Well it's was time for Big Red to get tested again and I took a little video of it for those of you are lucky enough to not have to do this BS. The truck passes with flying colors in stock tune! As soon as I was done I put the 80E back on it and rolled some coal in the parking lot
They used to do that crap here in a few counties in Ky. It was stupid. Nothing more than a money grab for the local governments. If you failed, you go and tune your vehicle up, and then go back for testing. If you failed the second time, but could prove you spend $250.00 on trying to make your vehicle pass, you got a wavier. Of course you'd have to do it again next year.
Dang I hate seeing these trucks redline like that. If they start that stupid chit here, I'm going to have a certain fellow I know write a tune to govern my tuck at 2200 rpm's. Then I just need to take my dash apart and color in a few of those lines and no worries.
Glad to hear you passed Cris. How much money did you have to waste on this if you don't mind me asking?
Chris, if you don't redline it you don't pass. I only had to do it 7x's this year unlike the 10 times last year.
Testing is $28 and then another $140 for my plates.
Well at least the testing isn't too expensive, but like I said, if they start that nonsense here, I'll be redlining at 2200. I realize you're not really hurting anything with the factory redline, I just don't like to see mine that high.
Then again, I might be tempted to do the first rev on a smoke tune, then switch to a stock setting just so I could fill their little shop with smoke

I thought about doing that same thing Chris I am only allowed to pull about half way into the bay so my rear is sticking out just incase you smoke the hell out of them. They are no fun......
If they start testing there and you can get away with redlining at 2200 be sure to let me know. I hate doing this to the truck every year. I don't care that it doesn't hurt it, it hurts me to see the rpm's up that high unless I am trying to race someone
Wow time flies I remember you just telling me last year that you had to go for the testing. The lwas here in MA are un real. I'm glad that I won't have to deal with it next time around.
Doing testing at redline is absolutely retarded. Makes no sense and tells nothing. How often is an engine spent at redline on a public roadway? 1% of the time maybe? If they were serious, they'd check things at part throttle under load. I am so glad I don't have to subject my truck to that, I don't even do that playing around.

I didn't know they left the back end sticking out of the shop. Might be time for some stacks.
That would be hysterical!!! We need video of that!!

When I had my 88 7.3 they strapped her down to a rolling dyno, put her in 3rd (ZF5) and wound her to the moon... UGH. HATED it, and it cost me $75 too!! Now that I have Wyoming plates, I don't do it for either of my oilburners... no diesel emissions in Wyoming!
