JJRiley,
I am guessing you may not know much about the condition of the engine...... so I suggest you seriously consider doing a compression test on it to better determine what condition the engine is in; rather than just assuming it.
Real nice, thanks to dad you are a lucky guy, I hope my son will take the reins of my 65 when I head off the highway. Good luck and enjoy every minute workin' with that kid.

Dad went through the motor before he put it in the truck. He talked about this one a lot and he was building it to be a driver. I had a chance to talk yesterday with his friend that helped with some of the build and he was able to confirm a lot for me also. My dad was very thorough from a mechanical standpoint when putting something together.

Thank you. I feel like I hit the jackpot. I love old iron, but never appreciated the trucks until now. My son already loves the truck, so hopefully it'll be the father son build I never had with my dad.
I snapped some pics of the gas tank relocation and the motor this past weekend when I was there. Dad was not the best metal fabricator and he wasn't happy with the filler location. I plan to neaten up the hole and get a hinge from a fuel filler door and some bed floor that will match and make a door for it. It'll get rid of the unsightly hole and look much better in my opinion.
The engine bay isn't the worst I've ever encountered, but I will be dressing up the wiring and repainting for sure. Dad knew how to make em work, but didn't focus on aesthetics. The end goal for this truck isn't a show queen, but as an honor to my father and a nice enough driver that I could take it to a show if I wanted to as well as something to hand down one day.
Like the others stated; sorry about your Dad man. Its pretty damn cool that you and your boy will continue where he left off. Good looking truck. Make sure to post pictures for us when it's completed.

Thank you. I'll put up pics as we go along. I think we have settled on scheme like what is in your profile pic without the side trim.
I finally was able to bring it home this weekend. My son is so excited to hey going on it. I'm trying to get the tail lights and brake lights sorted. The turn signals were flipped, but I found where to fix that issue. I need to pull the turn signal switch now and check every thing there. Signaling left or right lights up both taillights. Any ideas?
I also noticed that it had kind of a dull reflection looking down the side, so I just had to know so I grabbed the buffer and compound.
I'll do the rest of the truck and embrace the patina for now.
Brake light/signal light problems.
Looks like it has after market taillight lens. I'd be looking around at the rear lights at wiring for a problem first. They may have both left and right tied together back there, causing both to flash.
