Between the little one, refinancing the house, hunting season, and doing home improvements... I've been slammed. Hell neither one of the mud trucks have even been touched since the Hurricane came though.
We signed papers on the refinance today, and I picked up the new shower/tub for the bathroom remodel from lowes, still waiting on the walls to show up (special order) but with the base in I can atleast get a start on re routing drains and what not.
Yep,
You sure sound busy. I can't seem to stay focused on the shop or the house to get a single thing completed. Too many projects started and not one yet ready to go. Let us know how the remodel goes!

I do know the feeling of way to many projects started, Josh. Seems I have to do this ....before I can do...But, then something else comes along that has to be done first..
I started stripping the carpet out of the den, as the den is in the basement, does not have a plastic underlay, and the carpet was so many years old. It had a certain.. odor to it. However, I much prefer hard wood (or composite) flooring, but with the den being a 70's wood paneling, I don't want to go back in with a dark wood floor, like I've done in the rest of the basement. So it's at a stand still. I have no idea how I want to proceed, but I knew I wanted that old carpet up to the door pulled, where it's definitely gotten wet several times. Now I am searching for inspiration on what to do with the room next, meanwhile. And that's just one project. The hallway is half painted, as I couldn't reach the trim around the stair case top, so need to buy a ladder for that, Then the laundry room is almost done, except for the closet, where I need to do some drywall work, after having to replace some pipes.
Then there is the shop, that has a CB919, F350, Civic, and ATV that all need work performed. And that's just the list from the top of my head! I know I'm forgetting the bonus room and all the other remodel projects I want to start!
There is just not enough time on the weekends to get it all done.
Try some of that laminate flooring on the basement floor. The good stuff has and underlay/cushion. Go to floor tile around where the entry door is.
I can't even get into my garage in NY..son's 67 Galaxie fast back is in the way plus one bay I set up for cutting when doing the tongue and groove pine on the kitchen ceiling. For some reason my improvised work bench got covered with stuff. ...Like why do I have the leftover parts from the backhoe on it.
HELP!!!intervention needed.
Plus the driveway is getting / is full of projects.
you could go with a lighter colors hardwood to offset the dark paneling... but dont forget when you get the hardwood flooring or the even if you go with laminate.. lets it acclimate to the room for a couple days - week (depending on the thickness) before installing it... or you can even go with a tile that has a wood appearance if thats what you want...
I wonder about that, Shawn. Acclimating that is. Son in law did his bathroom (in NC) with the required materials and followed instructions. Now there is a slight "bubble". I wonder if it would have been better just to install it???
On the other hand , my son bought a house built on a slab. The flooring there humps up real bad. Probably due to improper installation. The rain we've been having probably doesn't help either..
when we did the dining room at the old house it originally had carpet in there... when we pulled it back we found globs of plaster stuck to the floor they didnt bother to clean up before laying the carpet when it was built.. we chipped it off and smoothed it out before laying the laminate in there.. it sat in the hall for a week before we installed it... when we did my room a few years earlier it sat for 3 days in the room..
one of my coworkers at the last job had real hardwood installed at his house... they brought it in and installed it the same day... wasnt a month went by before the floors warped... before i left they had 2 new floors put in for the same reason... i wasnt about to offer a suggestion on letting it acclimate before getting it put in... mainly because i didnt like them lol
When we put down oak flooring in son's first house, I think we had the flooring sitting inside for a month or 2. No problems at all......except for wearing out the knees..sanding and varnishing.
I've got some stripping shovels and air nailers you can borrow.
If you go metal, make sure that the old shingles are removed . One, because of the extra weight on the roof.
Two, the shingles still will be deteriorating underneath the roof metal causing flexing. I know that will take a while to happen and many
contractors just put the metal over the shingles so they don't have to strip and dispose of the shingles.
Also make sure the roof is vented
BinL had his double-wide roof done with metal $4000. Downside 2 layers of shingles on the roof, roof was leaking around sky lights, you can't find any damage or mold by not stripping.
There have been recent changes in the IBC (International Building Code) that most states have adopted. Not sure about NC.
Just put an 8 lb shoulder in the slow cooker. It won’t be smoked pork, but it should be tasty and I think they are calling for rain tomorrow.
Im going to bug Marty, Dustin, and Wesley. Anyone else, who wants to join let me know. Should be ready around 3 tomorrow, hopefully have a few mouths to feed.
My metal roof it was stripped to the OSB, and replaced and that had been wet. Also did away with the sun light in the bathroom.
Still working of the bathroom, thought I only had 1 small soft spot, but I was wrong. So that set me back, but about ready to start going back together now. Once that's done itll be time to start working on a new building. I've never had a garage large enough to put a truck in and work on it with doors closed. I've got a bare concrete pad that is 20x12 right now. Planning on adding to that and build a 20x30 building. That should get me enough room to fully put any of my trucks in it. Also should give me enough room i can work a cherry picker in front of either of the 2 mud trucks if need be.
