Might take him down to the basement and let him out the door under the carport.
Flakes are getting bigger.

Hope yall having fun with that whit crap... on the south eastern half of the state we got rain, rain, and more rain. I'd say in the 3" range by now and still raining.

I need to go to lowes and buy some lumber to build a new wall in the bathroom, and sheetrock. However with this rain I haven't been able to do that. Also need to put rear brake pads on my truck since they went metal to metal yesterday... but I'm not doing that until the rain slacks up either.

Josh I thought about doing a building big enough for a 2 post. I'm planning on doing a single 4" block around the base, and 8" walls. I figure center should be in the 10-11' range so that would be a little low for a lift. Plus I'd have to pour a 8-10" thick pad.

I was supposed to have an interview today... but when i drove up there i was told by the guy at the gate the offices were closed because of the snow we got.. which i find ironic because the girl pretty much TOLD me how important being on time and getting to work was for them.. and wanted to know how i could assure them i was going to be able to get to work on time every day... irks me a little being asked a question like that and then them not be there when i go for my interview...

The whole floor doesn't have to be that thick. Check on 2 post installation specs. If you can do it, 12' would be better.

Yea I know, would only need a section of it that thick. The idea of a 2 post is nice, but doubt I'll ever do it... but who knows I may talk myself into it.

Well I just did some reading. Eagle lift has one that is rated for 8500 pounds. They recommend a minimum of 4" rebar reinforced pad for the 8500. And 6" 4'x4' for the 10k pound one. I suppose I could over kill it and do 2 4x4 pads 8" thick when i pour concrete "just incase" i ever decide to put a list in. Also the top of the 8500 pound lift was 144" tall. I guess when I get closer to starting the building I will get a better idea of exactly how much height i will have. For electrical it called for 220/30amps.

the 8500 pound lift was $1700 plus freight.

When i asked contractors that were building shops/garages what they do the floors to when there's going to be lifts installed.. they told me they were pouring 12" reinforced floors.. and to make the ceiling height a minimum of 14' high... cars could go a little lower but the trucks needed 14'

A bit over-kill there. A Ford dealership in NY , installed a 2 post. They didn't want to cut out the existing floor, so they poured an 8" slab on top and ramped it. T'was a pain for the mechanic.
Another guy I know had 10 1/2' ceilings with a storage attic above. Got a lift that required 12'. He cut 2 holes in the ceiling and the cross piece was in the attic.
