Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 59 headed to 90 today. NWS says 92. High heat warning in effect.
I think the NWS uses the Astoria Airport (or used to when I was spending a bunch of time at Camp Rilea over there) or a point north of Cannon Beach for their forecasts which could skew the Seaside temp. The 92 (and temps) they post for here come from the weather station 1800 feet above us up the mountain. (Rye Mountain).
Meeting with an attorney this afternoon. The bad thing about that, besides money, is that we have to go all the way to Lake Oswego to see her.
Good evening Ford Fans.
Jim NWS still uses the Astoria regional airport and I picked personal forecast and NWS gives forecast some miles NNW of Cannon Beach.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Just barely survived the I5 traffic into Lake Oswego. What a flipping Zoo!
Stopped at Cabela's on the way home. I sure do not like what Bas Pro Shops is doing to it. They are eliminating the Bargain Cave, they have done away with Military Discounts on guns, ammo and few other items. The fishing pole racks were half empty and a lot of shelves and cases were empty, moved or removed. Doesn't seem to be going a good direction as far as I'm concerned.
In what was left of the bargain cave, the Warden found a pair of boots for 75% off because they had a little scuff on them. She figures they will have a lot more scuffs than that the first time she wears them on the farm & ranch or up in the mountains.
I found the good stuff. They had plenty of Moose Poop fudge so I made sure I got me $15.00 worth. I also picked up a Ditty Bag that will be perfect for putting BB's or Muzzleloading gear in.

Here, NWS uses the Rye Mtn. site which is 1800' above us. Earthworks is about 1/4 mile from us at same elevation and Underground is up Gopher Valley a couple of miles away as the bird flies and over a ridge. We had predictions of 92, 90 and 89. I suspect every last one of them come from a computer model at NWS or similar private lab in Portland. All came within one degree of their prediction and the high on our system was 87...so, they are at least close enough to be in the ballpark. I don't sweat a couple of degrees unless it is at the other end of the spectrum and I'm worrying about freeze or no freeze.
I just find it all pretty interesting and how different it is now from when I was flying in the Navy. I also like to know how much faith (not) to put in them when I am listing to the NOAA / NWS on the Marine Band Radio while out on the water. And I don't want to tick off NOAA as my Primary Doctor's wife is a Manager at the Newport NOAA base.
Plenty warm here today......just above 100........worked, but knocked off a little before 4:00......so I went home and worked in my shop for a while.....Trying to get ready for the show in Tillamook next week.......seems it will be the last show they are going to put on....
Morning Evan, Pat and those to follow.
Hello Wayne, so th the Blue Heron is not going to continue the old iron show?
The Blue Heron just lets the local club use the location. The local club puts on the show every year. There seem to be about four people in the club that do all the work, and the youngest of them is 75. He said he's tired and burnt out, and can't get anyone else to step up and help, so he's done with it. Too bad, cuz it's a nice show. It's still possible that someone may step up and continue, but he really doesn't think so.
Good mid day morning. Short day today was wife and I are headed out for our annual lunch date at Island Cafe on hayden Is. Also will look at a commuter car that gets some MPG's...
