Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Sitting at 35.3 and clear blue sky at the moment.

No Arc Pat, but the foundation flood doors are open...not that they would every be used anyway.

Monsoon season. Should end the last part of June/first part of July in time to start again at the end of August, first of October. Just a bit cooler water than the tropical monsoons. Besides, West of the Cascades we need to keep up the Web Foot tradition, grow our moss and some even grow cranberries......

Have Boat, will travel!

I was born with actual webbed toes, so far I haven't drowned!
They shorted me on the gills though!

Oh, so, that's why you went in the Navy. Seems fitting. Me? I just wanted to work on jets.

Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Clouds moving in and out earlier, but up through this afternoon it was relatively nice. Then the rain started.

Wellllllllllllllllllllllll, not really Pat. I took a look at the Air Force and the Army because I wanted a Combat Aircrew assignment and to jump out of airplanes. I was torn, because the family has been Navy since the Civil War. GGG granddad was Army in the Civil War. I took solace in the fact the my cousin had already betrayed the family trust and was US Army Special Forces. (Green Beret).
So.......my uncle was 30 year Navy retired. Another friend of the family was an MCPO in the Navy Reserve outfit in Salem and drug me along on a couple of 'ride a longs". I'm pretty sure there was a conspiracy with dad (USN of course) to make sure I was not going to betray the family traditions in the same way my cousin did. Mother was pretty sure I was going in the Service over her dead body. (She's still alive, she and dad never divorced, but my Uncles name a Dave were on the "S$%T List, I do believe for the rest of their lives).

Uncle finally convinced me I had a much better chance to fly as an enlisted air crewman by joining the Navy. He and MCPO Dave took (escorted) me to the Recruiter in their best Sunday go to meeting Uniforms with all that shiny gold stuff and I walked out as projected Rent a Crow USN with guaranteed Airframes-Hydraulics and follow on to Second Mech and F/E schools as long as the my GCT/ARI scores in boot camp met the minimums.
I think in the in the parlance of sailors they considered that "conscripted" or "shanghaied"?

Good morning John, Pat and all to follow. 45 at the compound. Ran the numbers on my electric usage and bill and for about $5000.00 in batteries and inverter I could get off the grid. The solar I have is enough, currently excess goes back to the grid. Hoping the battery technology gets better and the price goes down. I want to be off grid before I retire.

I have two solar arrays the first one was 3.8 KW the one I added this summer was 4.6 KW. So I now have 8.4 KW total. Also have a Diesel 11000 KVA Generator.

Been kicking around the idea of getting a genset for the house, that would run off of natural gas.
