The Ford link I posted should give you all of that info. I went from an 87 460 to 96 7.3 so I'm not real familiar with your particular logistics, but you might start looking on the back of your alternator.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 36.9 and a low heavy overcast. 80% chance of rain this morning.
Looks like we might be caving in from the pressure of daughter and grandkids to go to San Diego for a visit. Round trip tickets for two are around & $150 and we can't drive for that.
Looks like #1 son may be moving home for a bit as well. Solves the problem of babysitters for the animals while we are in San Diego I guess. Better buy some stock in Charmin, I guess. With news like this, I may be needing to buy copious quantities of their product.
New to the forum, Ford, and just returned to Oregon after being away since 1974. Bought a little place up in Lyons, bought a camp trailer so needed a rig to safely pull and picked up a nice 20015 F-250. Looking forward to revisiting places and discovering new ones.
Reading lots of posts here here so I can learn about my truck and issues
Welcome aboard and welcome back to Oregon, Jim and welcome to our daily chat thread where we keep up on the gossip and let everyone know we are still vertical and taking nourishment!
Not that we are a nosey bunch, but where were you hiding for the past 44 years?
Lyons is a nice area. We spend a lot of time at Detroit Lake in the Spring and summer so go right by there.

Evening all. Charging system finally took a crap on me. Left work and the volts started dropping. Jumped it twice to get home. Well, more or less charged the battery back up. Never died I just pulled over and had the wife’s car charge it up.
So, I replaced the voltage regulator...... jumped the truck.... unhooked the cables and battery voltage started dropping again. I replaced the regulator with a 95/130 amp one.
So next step replace the alternator with a new one?
BTW: my alternator has 3 bolts.... unless the mystical 4th bolt is a small one in the back that isn’t used for mounting.
EDIT: the voltage regulator is two pieces right? Because the inner half with the two connecting wires didn’t come with the back piece that has “test ground here” stamped in it.
Dustin, you should pull the alternator and take it to either the base hobby shop (if they have a tester) or the auto parts store and have them test it for you. That probably should have been the first step.
Do you have gauges or a dummy light or both?
None of the next 3 pics are a good thing.........
These next three pics should give you a warm and fuzzy feeling....
