Morning all. Long weekend of mostly work...mowing, logging, spraying, etc. Thank goodness I'm back in the office to rest.
Was hoping to make the GTG but not going to happen this year. I've heard the museum at Hood River is great but haven't made it yet. I used to work with the Director. The Interpretive Center at The Dalles is cool. Enjoy the trip.

We're planning on having a fun time on the way, during and after...going to be a little more rushed on the way home this year. Have some things to get done here home and then we are taking off at the end of the month for 2 to 3 weeks at Diamond Lake and Crater Lake. If my son can do what he said is going to do, get a section of fence built while we are gone to the G2G, that will take some of the pressure off.
Last year when we left the G2G, we kind of got "lost" on the way home and just 'winged it' doing some wild camping and hitting a nuber places on a whim and spur of the moment and almost cut us short on leaving for Diamond Lake.
O.K., I'm going to take someone's toys away from them and shove them where the sun doesn't shine and maybe get their attention!
My cell phone and the Wardens cell phone just went nuts a few minutes ago.
After it got done sounding like it was going to blow up, a message came up on it:
"Imminent Threat - Severe:
Civil emergency in this area until 11:28PM PDT Prepare for Action
OEM, 1, OR"
It didn't say a thing else. Didn't know if we had inbound Nukes, Russians or an MS13 revolt. When nothing else came across, we turned the TV on. A minute or so after that the Emergency Warning System came on saying if we were in Turner or Salem areas - Lynn County, to not drink the water....WTF???? Last time I checked, Turner and Salem areas were in Marion County. Somebody been screwing with the maps again?
Emergency management is going to get a piece of my mind! I was loading my rifles. grabbing the GI Ammo Cans and breaking out the ballistic vests! I don't think they need to be using the system for this crap just because someone's water treatment plant failed 60 to 80 miles away. And how in the hell can they be so precise as to know the water will be safe in those area's precisely at 2328 hours?
************************************************** *******************
2029 hrs....Just went off again. At least this time it had a little more info.
( Red flashing triangle) and in bold face type: IMMINENT THREAT - SEVERE
WATER EMERGENCY FOR THE SALEM AREA www.cityofsalem.net for info.
Now just exactly why do they need to hit the panic button clear over hear for a Salem 'oops' don't drink the water alert?
Edit: Tried the Web Site...apparently it has gotten hit so hard that it has crashed. So much for their Emergency Plans!
Good evening Ford Fans.
When I finally got home after work I got the old Ford washed. Tomorrow I load the sleeping platform in and start loading stuff for the weekend.
Morning all. Yeah, I was at a scholarship awards evening at SHHS when everyone's phone went off with that alert.
My daughter ended up getting over $20,000 in scholarships last night (not to bad). The big winner was a boy going into the Marines that got $180,000 from the Marines and close to $20,000 in other scholarships.
Good morning everyone. Andy that’s great news for your daughter and the scholarships. It all helps. I got about $300 in scholarships when I graduated - of course that was last century lol. Mad dash to store this morning to get bottled water for the dogs. Hopefully the bazillion microscopic pieces of plastic won’t be worse than the Cyanotoxins.
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 37.4, clear and sunny.

Congrats to your daughter. Now you only have to pay for three and quarter years of college. Every little penny helps!
That first alert going off last night could have really raised some hackles if it was the same as our first alert. Just the Sky is Falling warning, but not what was falling out of it - no indication at all of what was coming and what the threat was...

So, we heard a week ago about the algae blooms in pockets at Detroit Lake, but the water treatment plants over there in the N Santiam drainage and Salem should be able to handle that. What & where is the microscopic pieces of plastic all about?
