alright guys was gonna throw a picture up still probably am just to make sure but upon pulling the pigtail out tonight I stumbled upon something. Now mind you I've been at this 3 weeks as most of you know so forgive my accidental stupidity here but when I put the new ipr in last week I got it in plugged it up and went on my way in a hurry to get the truck back together and running. Never checked anything just went with it. Well tonight upon pulling the pigtail and not knowing if it was right or not I decided to take a picture for you guys to help me out after I had plugged it back in. Upon taking the picture I noticed that the pigtail was seated funky as you will see and took a deeper look the metal clip on the top was not latching right and was causing the pigtail to be loose. Fixed that and tried cranking the truck over did not have the block heater in so she wasn't happy but on first crank and cold as hell I had smoke from the exhaust. Not 100% sure it is fixed until I hear it fire but I think I'm on the right track. Thank all of you for being as helpful as possible with me it's much appreciated I will report back tomorrow to let you guys know the verdict.
Yeah, that pigtail definitely looks odd. Doesn't look like the right connector or something... Does it have the little rubber packing on it? Not having that could make it fit funny, I would think.
My old, original IPR connector has the metal bail on it as well, and I though the connector was interchangeable with the injector plugs, but I know I've seen the replacement IPR connectors as well with the two little plastic tabs on the sides. Not sure what is best, but something definitely looks amiss with that connection.
Yeah, my OEM IPR plug had that same wire holder on it. When I got a replacement from Riffraff, Clay told me that they updated the design to the all plastic version.
Holy hell didn't even know anyone else had replied hadn't been getting emails about it. So I got the ipr connection hooked up correctly that night went to start next morning and cps had crapped out. Got a new one today from ford and wasn' getting anything. Unplugged icp and I get combustion smoke and all the goodies and it fired again but won' stay running very long with it unplugged. I's this normal? Im looking at buying a new one cuz it will start with it unplugged but when i plug it back in i get nothing
How well does it run when it does run? Does it sound like it is running on all 8 cylinders or does it run rough?
honestly I can't really tell the 2 times I had it fired Sunday it was quiet and idling around 1500rpm and yesterday when it started I had the pedal to the floor and when it started I left off the throttle and it idled for maybe 3 seconds then died. But if I have it plugged in I don't even get smoke or nothing.
