I have wait to start light. I can hear the go relay kick on. I have been through the entire troubleshooting guide. Tested the the idm hooked it to a different truck, I have tried with icp unplugged, checked oil in hpop, I have tach while cranking, changed a lift pump that I believe was actually probably good, now I'm at the ipr because yesterday I noticed then tin nut assuming it was fine previously and getting spark and fuel before I ever changed the lift pump. Was told it was the lift pump so changed that. Yesterday decided to check it noticing it was loose got it about half way tightened up and truck was firing but wouldn' catch all the way had a big cloud of smoke tightened ipr nut all the way up now nothing at all no smoke again and just cranks

Is that 12 psi while cranking? If so, that's low.

You don't need mom's time, either. If you plan on DIY-maintaining this, or just about any, vehicle, get a cheapo $10 alligator-clip remote start switch at Harbor Freight or the like.

I don’t think he was talking about your mom buying the part. He was just saying you can make the engine turnover without the assistance of another person

Ok guys so I got my new ipr in this week with no avail. I have now changed the lift pump the ipr and the cps as I was starting to notice my tach was being funky. I have good fuel pressure everything has been checked double checked and triple checked. The truck wants to fire it will start up but as soon as you let off the key it instantly dies off and then back to square one. I have been over the psd no start troubleshooting guide quite a bit and it says smoke coming from tailpipe yes/No and it comes back to batteries or starter I have already replaced batteries so should I go with a starter now? Will a starter still crank the engine even if it is bad? I'e always known one to just die off and you don't get any crank. I've noticed when the truck does fire it cranks hard then once it starts and dies and you recrank it it seems like it has less crank I feel like I'm close to something now but idk what to do next.

Elaborate on "tach being funky". How, exactly?

Long thread, lost track - do you have any sort of device connected to it that can read live data? If you're thinking it's tach/RPM related (either cranking too slow or CPS not reading right), reading the exact RPM might shed some light.

Also, what does your ear tell you? Does it sound like it's cranking slow?

Oh, reminder needed - manual transmission? Would you have another truck with enough power to try to pull-start it?

Well I posted a picture on here the other day of the tach diymechanich said it seemed to actually be at 100rpm and not 200. I put the new ipr in Thursday and the tach would be right then would drop recrank same thing would happen. We pulled the cps cleaned it up with brake clean and reinstalled. Cranked the truck and it fired then died. Then when we cranked it again I had no tach. So I bought a new cps and installed and still seems to be low on tach. By ear yes you can hear it sometimes crank harder and faster and that' when it wants to fire then it will crank slower the next time. We tried starting it the day it died while it was being pulled back to our shop and it just locked up the rear end didn' even try to start

Did you ever check the oil in the hpop res. to see if it was still full of oil with all the cranking you have done? Since you changed the ipr I assume you refilled the reservoir

Is the latest CPS a Ford/Motorcraft/IH?

Hmm, different crank speeds at different times, that tells me there's a starter and/or battery and/or battery cable issue. Good cables, clean connections?

How cold is it where you are? Do you have the block heater plugged in and working?

Okay, I see there's no "PRND21" in the dash, so it's a manual. Yeah, really, if you can find someone, try pull starting it, you get some pretty high R's that way.
