The first wife, the training run, was ejected early, so I didn't have a lot of mileage on me.
Les lived next door with her son and daughter. She had a '66 Mustang, I had a '65 Mustang and a '66 GT-350. Her car started to need work, more as time went on.
It would have been 35 years with number one this year, not that I would have survived.
Second one I met in a field with around 1200 sheep, me on crutches after a snowboard jump went wrong and I snapped an Achilles tendon. Took a while to wear her down but it's been worth it!
May have to double my commute next year to keep my job, decision not final yet. If it happens it will mean another job or earlier retirement, distance is too far to survive it long-term.
Thinking of retirement I'm moving slightly over to the dark side - just put a deposit down on a 1954 dodge C-1 and will pick it up early next year, complete with inspection, registration and plates.
Just realized that the wife and I will have been together 25 years come Veterans’ Day (Nov. 11/Armistice Day). A good run and looking forward to another 25. It took me several tries too to find a winner.
Things have been quiet here thankfully. Power outages all around because of the combination of a monopoly and screwed up government, but we have been okay because of the municipal well and sewer lift station within a block of the house. Just giving out positive vibes for my brothers and sisters dealing with the fires.
I hope that everyone else is having a good week, since things are screwy here.

I'm in a similar situation and starting January my commute will triple from 10.6 to 33 miles. Maybe not bad for some but the 15 minute ride to work will be missed.
So as some may know I too went to the dark side with a huge update. And yes it's a Dodge........ I mean a Ram.
2018 3500 DRW 6.7 Cummins H.O. with the Aisin transmission 4x4 Laramie Limited. It was a Ram certified 1 owner with only 13k miles. Balance of full warranty and the drivetrain warranty of 5yr/100k mile. So far I love it.
I'll still be in and out of the forum adding my 2 cents when I can but if some of you notice me not posting as much this is why. So here's my new to me commuter and workhorse.
The 5th wheel prep puck system is great, freeing up the bed when removed.
