Yes. I thought I had a small head gasket leak. Would pressure up the degas on my hot tunes. I was running Atlas 40FICM tune plus Innovative Extreme X tune, Powermax turbo, stock injectors. Mechanic had seen before that pressure can build due to the deadhead of coolant at the back of the heads. They pulled the heads and verified there wasn't a head gasket leak. Installed the coolant return kit, and now my pressure doesn't go above 5-6psi no matter how hard I push (also running Evans waterless coolant so I don't know how relevant/irrelevant my experience would be to yours). Other experienced mechanics said they had never seen it but it seemed to be the case on my truck. Something to consider but it requires removing the heads to install anyway.
Update: with some self control, I have been able to keep the truck from puking.
It seems to start puking some where around 28 psi on the turbo (hard acceleration) at WOT the turbo will peak at 35 psi. Any one have any ideas here? I want to keep the performance and stop the coolant puking/venting. All tests confirm I am not having headgasket failure.
I sure do, but if I had o-ringed heads maybe I would feel differently!

Nice information akblackfoot, I appreciate you posting that. I sure wish that I would have thought to install the coolant return kit.

I wasn't hitting near 35lbs of boost either so if it happened to me I guess it could happen in this instance. I think I saw 31 once but 30 is usually the max I see.

Thank you for the information, I am going to research the coolant return aswell as Evans waterless coolant.
To address the 35 lbs of boost from the turbo. **please note this is what I was told by a mechanic shop local to me**, I was told they hooked up to the computer and could see what the tune settings are,(unsure of if this is possible with a diesel or not, I know this is possible with a gasser). They said “there is no real tune, whoever tuned it just turned ALL the settings all the way up”.
I know that with a gasser you can hook up the tuner and check the settings, I am new to Diesel tuning so I am unsure if this is possible. I am inclined to believe it is possible. So I am going to be ordering the tuner In 2 weeks. I am thinking about going with QuickTricks. Any suggestions?
Yes I agree, the name of the shop is Motrhead’s Diesel Shop (aka “M.D.S.”) they have two shops, one in Slidell louisiana and the other in pearl river louisiana. The owners, John and Eric claim to be experts, but I have seen to many trucks go back due incompetence (the latter is my own opinion. You all can make your own assumptions.
And they will NEVER get my business again. To be honest a few of the customers (including my self) have filed lawsuits against them.
I am so sick of putting money into this truck, I am thinking of trading for a Tundra. The towing cap if more than the f250 (10200 on “bumper” pull) and more reliable than my powerstroke is willing to be.
Just a quick update, I am no longer an F250 driver. We traded the problem child in for a 2018 Tundra last night. I rented one a few days back, and pulled my 16x7 dual axle enclosed while fully loaded. It impressed me. It handled the trailer with no problems for the 6 -6.5 hour round trip ride. It even tackled the small hills in central Ms with no problems.
Thank you for all you guys help. I will be over on the Tundra forum from here on out guys.
