hi everyone, looks like coolant leaking from head gasket, i looked up at it with a flashlite and could see little bubbles of coolant between the head & block. yesterday i checked coolant it looked a little low but fine, today i drove it about 4 miles round trip to the store, seemed to run fine, i checked the coolant it has oil & or exaust in it.and a little condensation on oil filler cap. it's about 35miles to the shop to get the heads worked on. :do i drive it or could that really mess up the lower engine? what do you think?it seems to run fine, but? the oil cooler was rebuilt a couple months ago and that looks &seems fine too. thanks
Just put your curser over the word signature and bingo there she be.....
i checked the coolant it has oil & or exaust in it
Was the system flushed after the cooler was worked on, did you have the orings replaced......... oil in the coolant is usually cooler orings......but if the heads are leaking it could be coming from there too. Did you pull the drain plug to see if coolant is in the oil....... or taste the condensation on the cap is it sweet.
yes system was flushed a few times , it was cleared up for a couple months .it was fine yesterday. the condensation has left a slight amount of milky film on oil cap. i'll check the other stuff you mentioned in the mornig.thanks for your help PLC7.3
PLC7.3 ,new o-rings were installed in oil cooler.also cracked the oil drain plug and it was pure black no evidence of coolant. and the condensation did taste kind of spicy sweet. what do you think? and what do you think about the 35 mile drive? thanks norm

Reason: more in
If you have never had the heads off, you have been running on borrowed time...... The 6.9 has always had a problem with leaky heads at the back due to a poor head gasket. The head bolts were prone to stretching and are not used twice, that is why they have head studs available now.
The CDR valve could be part of the problem to.......I sent you info re that, it's been posted here before by me.
The drive should not hurt it, but if you can afford the alternative. It would probably sit there with that oil in it until the heads were done anyway.......
