It simply raises the running board closer to the body of the truck so they don't hang down as far.
Yes..... to some degree it reduces the value of having the step because it is higher with the F150 brackets. But, it does look good. Just don't lift your truck to high and you should be fine.
If you don't like the stock hang down height of the boards, get power boards. Tucked up out of the way when not in use, way down nice and low when you need them. I know I won't be going back to fixed boards.

I may regret not going to power boards, but some people want the fixed boards to also function like a mud/rock guard to keep road debris from eating the sides of the truck. The power boards are really nice and probably the best option for a step as you stated........ but they don't provide any protection.

That's why I had 6" of ClearBra run along the rocker panels from wheel well to wheel well.
I do like my Shin Whackers, er, power running boards. I think they make the truck look taller, give better ground clearance and they're just plain cool.
Mine is nothing elaborate......just drilled a hole that would allow the charging cord to push through. Because the plastic was easy to drill I used a flex-shaft drill bit device. The entire mod took about a minute and half. Nice and tidy with no wires on the outside and doesn't interfere with the sliding door function. The iPhone rides nice there propped up at a good angle. I use Apple Car Play which is convenient as well.
I dont have those. My fan displays on the sync screen.
you're RIGHT....on mine that would be drivers/master temp control (I dont have lights on that **** either), and the fan control is in the center/rocker - the display is in the center console screen.

Yep, if you don't have dual climate control you get the extra special lights that come on to show you what your fan level is. I have an XLT with the Premium package and this is what I have. I think you have to be at Lariat or above to get dual climate control.
