I have a 2017 F250 and given my application I cannot use covers with rails. The Extang 2.0 (both hard and soft) do not have rails. My questions:

1. Which one did you get?
2. Have you had any heavy rain experience?
3. If you did, how did it do?

Thank you.

I ordered a retrax pro and it came with broken plastic end plates. The online dealer told me the plates were not Field replaceable and to destroy it, send them pictures and they would refund. I put a 4x4 under it and drove my truck over it. Boy that hurt to do. Pictures attached. Got refund.

Next ordered a Bakflip MX online and it came with dents on the aluminum top. I sent it back for refund.

Next I had local line-x shop order and install a Bakflip F1 with Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer dent proof top. It's perfect and shop matched online price.

Love the top. It's strong, and allows full access to Andersen Ultimate 5th wheel hitch without any clearance issues to the trailer.

That's got to be the silliest thing I've seen on this forum. I had the same issue. Retrax sent a new canister, which I swapped in 5 minutes before I installed the cover. It boggles my mind to see a $1500+ cover destroyed because it needs a simple part swap.

I agree.

I had a broken end cap on my Retrax. Called them, they are sending me a replacement canister...

Could not be happier with their customer service.

I have a 2010 BakFlip F1 on my F150, it held up great in the south but now that I have moved back to PA I noticed that the FRP top cover has developed a couple of bubbles and cracks, I assume it is from the thaw-freeze cycles during winter. Has anyone had the same issues on their F1 covers?

I am going to install a Tonneau on my new truck when it arrives and am debating between the F1 and MX4 or possibly the Ultra-Flex.

Thanks,

Ultra Flex is what i went with. The regular Flex I currently have on my F150 has held up great here over 4 winters.

folding Tonneau cover and 5th wheel hitch

Will any of these folding hard tonneau covers work with the 5th wheel and camper in place, obviously folded to the cab window?

Shouldn't be an issue folded up against the back window, they aren't very bulky but the deciding factor will be your equipment; long bed or short, how much depth overhang from the 5ver, how tall is your hitch etc.
I would think a better solution for fifth wheel users would be a Retrax type vs folding so you have better visibility, the fold ups will obscure your back window when up.

True, but if you have the CHMSL camera or tow camera package, it may still be doable.

I know you asked about folding. And as I asked that same thing due to having a slide in camper, my input here was the LoPro roll up cover. The rails stay on for my camper and the cover comes off in seconds. Also when rolled up, full bed access and no obstruction out the window.

Received and installed my Diamondback HD yesterday. It is built very rugged and have no doubts it will last as long as the truck.

Anyone have either of these covers from Ford?

I had an Access Original on my last SD and it was great, fit perfect and never leaked a drop in 8 years. If I get the Ford cover (which look pretty close to the Access) when I pick up my truck I get it for a good price and the truck warranty covers it. Truck only comes out of the garage to tow a fifth wheel and the cover is really only used to keep the hitch dry and stop anything in the box from flying around. I do not want a hard style cover or one that rolls up in a large ball

Does anyone have a suggestion for a cover that will roll or fold up to allow the use of my fifth wheel hitch, without sacrificing the bed height? I need the cover to clear my in bed tool box which is 21" in height.
