I still don't have my truck, I've been ordering parts so everything is here when the truck arrives in early May. I leave on a cross country trip with the enclosed car hauler in mid June so time is tight to get the car ready, the truck ready and get the 1000 miles on the truck before hauling. A tonneau was the first thing I ordered, need somewhat secure storage for "stuff". lol
Anyone have a toolbox solution for a Retrax MX Pro? Would love to have a cover but I will need a toolbox I'm hooked up to my gooseneck at least 3 days a weeks and do not want my stuff out in the elements.
I'm not sure Gary, my F150 has the solid top bedrails but it looks like they would easily be clear. The pictures on the website look like they do on other trucks. Maybe try giving them a call? Just giving options to people.
Here are some pictures of mine (standard Flex) after 4 years and 80,000km of use. It gets opened and closed probably 3-4 times a week just to load hockey gear, not to mention the hundreds of times camping and on road trips, and has held up really well. Here are some pics I took the other day in order to sell it when the new truck comes in.
Did you have to drill holes for the drain tubes or were there rubber plugs there in the bed?

I ordered the Ford version of this for my truck. Hopefully it holds up well.
This one was installed by a shop so not sure. I will be installing the new one and will drain through the 2 plastic plugs at the front of the box.
I'm not sure if the 2017 truck is the same but in my 2011 there was a hole in the front stake pockets. Using a copper 90 degree elbow I was able to run the drain lines from my cover into these holes.
Gary
Got my RetraxPro MX today. Opened the box and I have the broken end cover on the container. Mine is not clear but a black plastic. Same issue with the Monkey #14 looks like.
Called Retrax and left them a message. Can you guys that got replacements confirm if the new ends are plastic or metal?

Same issue, got a new canister. When I looked at my cracked one more carefully, you could see a buckle in the aluminum as well. Clearly some of these are treated very roughly.

Shippers are apparently handling these in a vertical (upright) position. It makes sense to "bear hug" the canister box to move it (especially if moved by one person or truck driver), and this clearly puts the drop down pressure on these plastic end plates.
I picked mine up from my Dealer, went out with a salesman to their warehouse to get it, sure enough it was upright against a wall. First thing I thought of was "man, I hope that end cap (watched unboxing video prior) isn't damaged!" ...having it on it's end like this. Luckily for me it wasn't.
Note to Retrax; You may want to put a lot more Padding/Styrofoam on the end of the canister boxes.
Still loving my Retrax Pro btw, the best roll-under tonneau period!
