Bill says of the build sheet: "It's not decodable, it's used by assembly line workers to assure the correct parts are installed on the vehicle."

I'll bet Kevin Marti could decode one.

Well, I would show my ignorance and ask "Who is Kevin Marti?" But, I googled it and found this: Marti Auto Works - Concourse Quality, Hobbyist Price. Looks like they may be able to decode it. But, I'm not sure I am ready to pay for that service, although I will keep it in mind. Thanks!

I'm chasing lubricant leaks and found this today. (And, I'm checking to see what is shown in the metadata for pics on FTE.) This pic has been sent from my phone to my PC and then posted to FTE. And, I apologize up front for the size of the file, but I want to be sure everything is in it.)

How much does that truck sit down on it's suspension?

It looks like a drop pitman arm would improve the steering geometry.

It doesn't sit down very much. Where's the best place to measure? I'll check when I drop it down?

I measured 9" between the tops of the front tires when on the lift and 6" when down.

I may have found both a leak as well as a problem. First, this clamp on the power steering pump was not tight, and the area around it was really wet and grungy. Plus, the power steering pump is low on fluid.

Then I followed the hose a bit and found that they used a fuel hose to connect up the return side of the power steering. I have some 3/8" transmission oil cooler hose so guess I should swap it.

All that metadata is gone.

The File section - where I found some local machine information - apparently describes some machine name & path information, at least in 'doze 10. But none of that stuff exists on the copy of this picture I downloaded and tested.

I got the hose on the power steering pump replaced today. And after lots of cleaning and two cans of brake cleaner I think I can probably figure out where the leaks are coming from.

And, while I was poking around under the hood I found something with which I need some help. I'm pretty sure the Trailer Lights Relay and the Marker Lamps Relay are the two in the housing screwed to the firewall, and the Fuel Pump Cutoff Relay is the one hanging in the breeze. (I don't really know where the fuel pump relay is supposed to go, but that's no biggee.) But, what's the solenoid? The EVTM's show a junction block there, as shown here in the 1986 version, but it is the same in the 1985 version. So, I first thought it was an add-on. However, the wiring doesn't appear to have been hacked and the wires are a perfect fit to it. Further, the small yellow wire with the 90 degree boot sure looks stock.

Anyone know? What am I missing?

Was he towing a trailer with that truck? If so it may be a trailer battery charge setup. Many class A and C motorhomes use a system like that to charge the "house" battery and add it to the chassis battery for cranking if needed.
