Yrs ago I tried screening sand after using it once but it was too dusty and slower to sand blasting with. I think that a lot of the sand breaks down into powder.
I've got about a yard of unused sand that I can experiment with, right now its tubing/ pipe that I need to worry about and I don't think I have much of it around here.
I'll see what's available and for how much, I can't see myself doing big jobs like bodies and frames but I can see myself doing hard to reach areas on both, I've got pressure washers and can use a sand pick up with them on big stuff. pressure washers, hoses and power wands show up on a regular basis at the auction, last 3 cost me $26 total for the lot.
I can`t do large sand blasting job since I don`t have fresh air supply and mask, even for small sand blasting jobs that should be used to avoid silicosis, a deadly lung disease. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silicosis
According to my news feed, God's blowing a big fart storm out his butt and your getting about a foot of snow right now Morris.
My breathing apparatus consists of a kids scuba snorkel tucked inside my tshirt with a garden hose running through my sleeve and attached to the end of the snorkel and duct taped together, as long as no bugs come up the garden hose I'm okay. For intense safety I pull up my tshirt over my nose and put a couple of wraps of duct tape around the collar and seal the top of the shirt to my face, saves on filters and depending on the garden hose, theres usually 50' of hose for the bugs to crawl up. I have several pairs of safety glasses and goggles that I use under my grinding face shield.
I haven`t been out for a few hrs so I don`t know how much came down so far, it`s supposed to last into possibly Tuesday Perry. We had enough wind to make it bad driving late by this afternoon.
I`m not sure just how fine the particals are but if you don`t do a lot of sand blasting you maybe ok. A few yrs ago it was about $325 for just under 4,000 lbs of #4 sand.
.If we get enough I will get to push the snow around. I just got new tires for my Bobcat, I`m ready to roll.
Theres quite a few blasting mediums out there so I'll get a price on all the different types there is and take it from there. Just got off the Home depot site and I'm wondering if I can use some of the air hose that I already have to make shop lines, I can get T ees for $7 and that would be my only real cost that way, would cost about $70 to plumb the shop as I've got enough of everything else already. I like the idea of saving myself $300 if I can go that way.
Famous last words....we just got over 10'' of snow John. I`m going to move more snow after dinner.
How are you doing Shaun, busy at work?
Grant must be snowed in too.

So, I stopped being cheap and bought a compressor, was going to pick it up but its to big by an inch or 2 to go through the man door of the garage and theres stuff blocking the aisle by the main doors so its coming in on Friday. In the meantime there's a path that needs to be cleared so that I can get it into the place. Tomorrow is a high of -8 and Thursday I have appointments from 2 - 5 pm so I guess I'm going to be busy on Wednesday, It's almost time to pick up O2 bottle and a regulator so that this stove can get done this weekend.
