Because of some issues with others that have done a manual update I am leery of doing it myself, Like Rutcutter has been having phone issues since he updated.

What year is your vehicle.
If it`s a 2016 and you did the manual update, you`ll need the new USB hub.

Separate but related question.
With Sync 3 version 2.2 can you do the following:
1. Connect the IPhone via the Apple USB cable
2. Select Music Source USB Music
Will it connect and STAY connected
Can you play music via ITunes app, view Album Art, Playlists abs advance and rewind the selection playing?

I don't carry music on my iPhone. However, here are answers based on the iPod Touch I have "permanently" installed in our truck:
1) Yes, the iPod Touch is connected to the Sync 3 system via an Apple OEM USB cable.
2) Yes, the iPod is selected from the Source menu as an identified USB input.
Yes, the Music app stays connected, and the iPod stays charged. And, the screen images are present and the soft controls work. The steering wheel controls (Vol up/down, selection advance/rewind) also function as expected.
Here's a pic of the system in operation (I think it's in night mode):

HTH,
Jim / crewzer
Thank you Jim
Hopefully the Sync 3 v 2.2 will fix my issue when Ford ever decides to make the 2.2 upgrade available for Sync3 2.0 systems that were built in December 2016.
