I spoke to the dealership and they explained this is a bootleg copy most likely provided by the code writers hired by Ford and thus should be made available soon after it is thoroughly tested. My service adviser suggested to hold off and wait for the genuine release so it wouldn't voice the warranty. If there was a way to upgrade and then downgrade I would've already performed this but I'm going to give Ford a little more time before I chance the warranty issues. If they continue to drag their feet (which is bogus in my opinion considering how long this bootleg copy has been out there)...then I will proceed as several has claimed it works and resolves the problem. Also to note, no one has claimed any issues with the bootleg copy so that is reassuring.
Good points, all. Much like the leaked copies of cellphone updates it's best to ensure you've got a way of downgrading to the official release. But, the programmers will often leak these and monitor the forums as a way to augment their own beta testing. Hopefully, those bunch of red bull swilling, no eye-contact making, nerds also leak the official release or ensure the official release updates all previous versions whether official or not.
I just went out and upgraded mine. Didn't take long at all and by the time I flipped the steaks and refilled my adult beverage it had already finished.

Hey, I represent that description!
As a software developer myself, and knowing the industry like I do (I'm a consultant), there is no way I would be plugging a beta (alpha?) copy of a software update into my new truck.
I just upgraded from a 2015 F-150 With MFT to a 2017 F-250 Lariat Ultimate this week. Living in the DFW Metroplex, I am missing the traffic, so I downloaded the file today, but after reading the readme file it scared me out of going from 2.0 - 2.2. Any words of advice on moving forward?
I am hoping Version 2.2 fixes the ability to use Apple Devices as a USB streaming music source. It worked flawlessly on previous year models Sync 2, but has never worked more than a few minutes reliably on my Sync 3 Version 2.0
iPhones, IPads, IPod Touch. All with latest Apple Software and Apple cables
On the other hand in Sync 3 Version 2.0:
Bluetooth music without album art does work
Apple Car Play over USB Music does work but I dislike Apple Carplay disabling Sync Navigation, Sync Phone and Sync Weather and exterior temperature
I'm pretty sure you can download this off the Ford Owner Site.

Nope. Only v2.0 is available via the standard update routes. v2.2 was discovered on a Ford testing environment server that was "accidentally" left open to the public. The Ford owner site still lists v2.0 as the most recent version for Sync3 on our trucks.
Guys im running into a bit of a problem since updating to v2.2.. Every time I get in the truck and start it,sync is trying to call my own number. I have to hit privacy to get it to end the call.
I've already deleted the device and reinstalled it and still has the problem.. Any idea's?

Whoa. First I've heard/read of that problem. I haven't looked yet, but, if I were you I'd search the F150 forums (who are a bit ahead of us with hacking Sync) and see if anyone has posted a downloadable v2.0 file and how to downgrade from v2.2. You might also try deleting your phone and seeing if you can reinstall the v2.2 update.
I've got an Android so I don't have any expertise with Apple products. Do you have CarPlay enabled? If so, disable it (or delete it off your phone all together). I know that Android Auto has been playing havoc with some functionality of these systems.

I still have 2.0 and it's done that to me while driving, 2 times.
