yeah, I read it takes a bit to update...could be up to 50 minutes, but most say 20
To upgrade from 2.0 to 2.2 took about 20 mins. So far the mobile update has been running for a little over 30 mins and its still on the same "Updating Mobile Apps..." screen. I'll give it a another 10-20 mins then may call it a night.
Truck shut down and it didn't update mobile apps. Went back in after restarting the truck and it said that mobile app update should take one min depending on connection. Tried again and its now been about 5 mins and same screen. Will muck with it tomorrow.
On the first post on this thread is link. Just go there and look around page 46-56. There are a couple of guys that set up servers to down load the software. There are two versions of the software. Version for NAVIGATION units and a Version for NON NAVIGATION units. Just have to read the post, but basically download the correct version to your hard drive. Unzip the update to a folder. Copy the contents from the zip file and place it on a formatted clean USB zip drive. Take it to you truck turn on your truck and place the zip drive in your USB and it will start updating your unit. From what I read, this will not damage or cause any problems with your unit, but I haven't tried it yet. This is from the guy that put the upgrade out...
"Android Auto is available on 2017 models with SYNC 3; owners of 2016 models with SYNC 3 are required to perform a software upgrade (Available Late 2016) Apple CarPlay is available on 2017 models with SYNC 3; owners of 2016 models with SYNC 3 are required to perform a software upgrade (available early 2017) and purchase a hardware upgrade through your dealer." This is the USB module in the F150 to get carplay to work.
I've read on this site that Google maps will not work with Navigation with Android auto. When I hooked up my Galaxy S6 the other day I couldn't get Google maps to work with Navigation either with Version 2.0 on my unit. Those that have upgraded this new Version 2.2 from Version 1.0 and 2.0 on the F150 site have gotten Google maps to work and from what I've read it is not only for Upgrading from Version 1 to 2.2. It supposed to work with version 2.0 to 2.2 also with the F series and other Ford models. This upgrade evidently just fixes some bugs in the software, but no new application upgrade. But again, I haven't install on my unit yet so, if you do you are doing it at your own risk.
I've tried several of the posts for the update but none seem to work most have a pop up that says they are no longer available. Can someone post or PM me a good place to download the Non NAV version please?
This site worked for me this morning. Need to read the read me file, but downloading to my computer, unzipping on to a thumb drive and installing it in my F150 was a breeze!
Just waiting for the USB hub to come in and I'll be in business. OBTW I have an iPhone. The android part is there already.
Is it possible to run Torque pro or DashBoss, on my phone on the apps screen on my Sync 3 truck? That would really be awesome if I could I see in this post a. User using torque pro? Can you verify as I would like to order the blue tooth aobd2 reader and software on my phone to do this so I can read more true data....
I pulled up the maps and told it to update traffic. After about 2 minutes the maps updated with green lines on the major roads. No red at this hour but I will be able to test that on my commute home tomorrow.
[QUOTE=gpf2ez;17057961]So the update worked. I went from v2.0 to v2.2.

Are you stating the same upgrade file v1-v2.2 upgraded your v2 system? Of is there another file for v2 systems to upgrade to v2.2?
I just want to make sure to get the correct file for the upgrade process. Thanks and congrats on finally having traffic data! I can't wait!

I just upgraded from a 2015 F-150 With MFT to a 2017 F-250 Lariat Ultimate this week. Living in the DFW Metroplex, I am missing the traffic, so I downloaded the file today, but after reading the readme file it scared me out of going from 2.0 - 2.2. Any words of advice on moving forward?

I spoke to the dealership and they explained this is a bootleg copy most likely provided by the code writers hired by Ford and thus should be made available soon after it is thoroughly tested. My service adviser suggested to hold off and wait for the genuine release so it wouldn't voice the warranty. If there was a way to upgrade and then downgrade I would've already performed this but I'm going to give Ford a little more time before I chance the warranty issues. If they continue to drag their feet (which is bogus in my opinion considering how long this bootleg copy has been out there)...then I will proceed as several has claimed it works and resolves the problem. Also to note, no one has claimed any issues with the bootleg copy so that is reassuring.
