Yes, on low trim levels where fleet users idle a lot. Not on the upper trim levels where drive time far exceeds idle time. Same as the current gen.

It's all market based and how a specific trim level will commonly be used weighed against frivolous warranty claims.

And the fact that most high trim level owners might use it because it's interesting. But a handful of people like myself buy KR/lariats and use them where most use xl and xlt's, and like I said it is an option that is useful in certain situations, so I am glad ford keeps it as an option.

Yup, as you put it, the "handful." Things are generally designed for the rule and not the exception.

I have to admit, when I enabled mine with Forscan, I spent way too much time looking at the DPF screen. I had to force myself to change the screen back to oil and trans temp and ween myself off of it.

Why is the Operator Commanded Regeneration feature on the newer model Super Duty pickups not available until saturation? From the manual "Note: You cannot use the operator commanded regeneration until the diesel particulate filter load percentage has reached 100%."

Then on the same page of the manual, "When the system is at the point of oversaturation, the service engine warning lamp illuminates and a message appears in the information display. You cannot initiate filter cleaning. You must have your vehicle checked as soon as possible."

This concerns me! Will I miss the warning when it reaches 100% ?!

I assume that this is why Ford Didn't want to have OCR in the first place. My truck is that 2013 Lariat and couldn't get the OCR option but the XLT's at work have OCR. The work trucks don't leave the job so there is no way to perform an active Regen, so Ford putting in the OCR option is the only way to clean the DPF.

The newer trucks hopefully Regen automaticaily when they reach 100%, if they don't it gives you the chance to do it manualy

IF your truck gets to a point of over saturation then you must of missed other alarms or warnings to get to that point and simply means that the DPF is clogged that a Tech will have to be involved to diagnose and repair.

The older trucks at work they OCR before 100% would OCR them daily till which were causing premature wear, so we disabled the manual OCR option and the driver is to notify the Tech to bring the laptop and perform a OCR.

I wouldn't be concerned if you miss the 100% warning because for one thing, the truck's computer will give to a "Drive to Clean" warning if it needs to Regen, way before the oversaturation.

We are able to use FORScan to complete an OCR. I call it OCR v2.0.

Look what I found

So resurrecting an old thread because something popped up yesterday.
Some background:
I have OCR enabled in ForScan (IDS), but it has never worked. We all tried different things, and figured it was some calibration in the PCM or something. I just use ForScan if I want to do a manual regen.
I have huge OCD on regens, call it a character flaw. When I start one I will always run it until complete. If I know I am not going to be able to run a full cycle, I will cancel (prevent) it form regen. (shift into neutral, ignition off etc) until I know I can drive a full cycle.

So yesterday I got to 95% on the way to the office. I had several short mile meetings throughout the day. It tried to regen on the way back to the office so I delayed it. I had an evening meeting so decided to take the wife to dinner before that. Only a 3 mile drive. Tried to regen again.
Got the the eatery and when I got back into the truck I had something new on my information center on the DPF screen.

So I fired up my Torque on my tablet to see what my numbers for the DPF were.

As you can see my Soot Mass % is 106.2% and Soot Mass g/L is 3.7. (your numbers may vary, but these are a little higher than normal.

So I turned on my camera to record to see what happens. Get ready.

So apparently we do have OCR, but with the right conditions. I did not have the hood open, nor the parking break on. I would not run a stationary OCR without the hood open.

Let me know if others find the same. Over time I will try and drill down the conditions (percentages)

The last manual regen I did via FORScan popped up a set of conditions that had to be met in order for the regen to happen. Parking Brake was not one of them, hood open was. Everything else was around different temperatures.

I have a 2019 f-450 DRW lariat. to do an operator commanded regen, I have to use the service icon in forscan .

but quite honestly, if I check the % full status on forscan and its high, I just take it for a 30 minute trip and that usally .clears most of it out.
