Form what I gather, this is only an option on some trim lines. If so, do we know why and has anyone looked into ForScan to see if there is a bit that can be changed to enable?
It was only a $250 option on the XL and XLT trucks....no higher trim level has the option
That is how I read it as well. For $250 bucks I can't believe it is an enabled feature of a common control module...maybe it is one that the module is only in the lower trims models. Any ForScan experts out there know the real story?
I was told by a Ford Tech that just came back from a training course on this, that it is tied to the VIN and since my truck is a Lariat the Ford software won't allow to enable it.
I have a 12 lariat and can do a manual regen. Get the ghost DPF screen active either by the dealer or FORScan on your laptop, not phone. If your filter is 85% or higher and the motor is warmed up put the truck in park. On the DPF screen you'll see the message to hit ok to start the regen.

Hope your right on this. Two other threads on this subject in this forum and I have told them all to look at your posts.
Going to try this when I can.
My truck is sitting at 90% and will not give message for operator regen. I tried it this afternoon with all kinds of variances such as hood open, park brake set etc but no go.
Wow, haven't seen that before. I'm betting you have to be up to temp for the option to show. Larry, were you up to temp or cold when you looked? I'll have to look the next time I'm up to temp and over 85%. It's funny but the name of the option actually makes sense if this is right. In the beginning, many dealers wouldn't enable it because it was called "force manual regen" or something like that and folks had to argue that they just wanted the DPF % screen. Not the ability to force a stationary regen. Now the name makes sense.
This method follows the explanation in the Diesel Supplement manual that came with my owners manual. It's why I started the question. It does not that it is available only with certain trims, which I believe is circumvented by enabling the screen on the display. Manual says you need to have the vehicle warmed up, be at or above 85% and in park. Temp gauge show running temp.
Pretty work Frank! This could save me a lot of potential cycles.
