Dave, did you look with your truck in park and your foot off the brake? That's the only time the option should appear from what I read above.
Yes, foot off brake and transmission in Park. Made sure that I did that. I was really hoping that I would have the message too! I've had many Regens that seem to start just a few miles before I get to where I'm going and have no chance to finish and this ability would help immensely!
What is the forscan ??? hows it work ?? Help me to understand this stuff folks , I ask because just in case the dealership says that they can't do the command region and I would like to pursue the other avenues that others have and I don't want to mess anything up so please help a brother out

Do a search for FORScan. It will bring up the threads on what it is and how to use it to show the Exhaust Filter screen.
You need to learn how to search on the forums. Not everyone has time to help a brother or give you all the info need.
Those of us with FORScan can start looking and comparing your "As Built" info with ours.
I can do Manual Regens with my Edge CTS2 although I never have. It would be a nice to have feature on everyone's truck.

I download mine and will share it. I'm going to import it into Forscan, for practice. I've created an a spreadsheet and will start one doing the translations. This is getting over my head....not sure how hex works...but I'm up for learning....especially if we get a few additional files to work with and compare.
I still haven't reached a regen yet. I did read the coffee table books and see there have definitely been changes between the 2011 and 2015 engines...assuming 2016 I have is same as 2015...and the sensors that are used in PDF management. Not sure how that plays into what we are looking at, but we might be running into an issue between model years. If however we can get a file from someone with a 2015-2016 that has the feature working and the same file for as is, we should be good to go. With a little luck I might be able to fit that bill. Should know soon.
I was curious I do not own a laptop I have a home PC and I have the torque OBD2 I'm trying to make sense of all this stuff and it's a little confusing for me so my question would be do I need to have a laptop and if not how do I configure my PC to go over to my torque OBD2 and I have an Android phone the Galaxy s 7 ? thank you. my pc uses windows
is this an part that they have to install or is it just something that they download onto the computer I'm confused now with all this stuff either FORScan or something to do there can download it self. I have a 2015 Lariat with ultimate package
According to Ford, operator commanded regen is only available on XL and XLT from the factory. That doesn't mean it can't be hacked into other models. So far as I can tell, Frank is the only one ever with a Lariat that has gotten this to work.
You don't need a laptop to use ForScan, a desktop computer it fine - you just need to get it close enough to the truck. Also you will need to have bluetooth on it (many desktops do not have that) or use a wired OBD scanner to the USB ports. There are no phones that run the version of ForScan necessary to change the programming in the truck.

I beleive you need the windows version of Forscan to make changes and your windows machine needs to communicate with yourBT adapter in you truck to do so.

The control setting is in the PCM module, but it may in fact have an interaction with another module to complete the function. In my PCM the option I changed was definitely Enable Command Regeneration, which enabled the screen, but still unknown if it will give me the regen option.
It would be great if we could see the As Built configurations from Frank and someone where it isn't working as we could get a step closer to seeing if his truck has a module difference.
EDIT******
I just got off the phone talking about this with a local diesel performance shop. They offered this:
While we can all see the % after enabling the OCR (Operator Commanded Rrgeneration), only models with the basic drivers display can perform the manual regeneration. They told me models with the advanced display, Lariat and above, have a different control module that lacks the features needed to perform a manual regeneration. The Edge CTS and CTS2 have the functionality built into them and can initiate the manual regeneration in the higher trim models. Everyone can enable the future, but with the advance display module we only get the display stating % and not the ability to perform the regeneration because of the differences in the control modules and how they interact with eachother.
The only thing this doesn't explain is why Frank, with a 2012 Lariat, can kick off a manual regen, but I am beginning to believe manual regen might not be an option for later model owners with Lariat and above trims from the stock setup, even with a hack.
