I'll be watching it to see if I get the option at full or not. Got home - at 90%, put it in park,no option. Restarted it right away and still no option... I have more running around, but not sure it's enough to get to "full".
Might have to dig around in forscan too. Maybe there is a way to turn it on and if I can get a ECU dump, maybe a setting to change the % at which you can do one. It's isn't a "yuge" deal to me, but every once in a while it would be nice to do a complete regen. Rather than the sad partial ones.
FORScan lite show a parameter that looks like it relates % regen kicks off in the PCM. Mine reads 100%.
On my '15, I have about 1 minute between when the dash gage rolls to 100%, and it starting the regen on its own. I would need to jam on the brakes, throw it in park, and sit there while it does it. But if it just started as I was stopping, and I wanted for it to complete before I drove next time, this might be a way to do that.
I have a 2012 and would like to do this. I have read most of this thread and the answer is probably in there, but I probably missed it. My question is how long does the manual regen take to complete if we can start it with this option?
Thanks.
I just tried to get the "OK" prompt to come up on my 2015 and still will not appear.
The screen shows Filter Full. Did have it start regen a couple times with the Orange cleaning exhaust filter popping up, but since I was almost home, it never dumped enough fuel to to start the DPT in the regen process.
I drove another mile or so to the house and parked on my concrete pad. With the screen still showing Filter Full, I never could get the OK prompt to perform a manual regen sitting stationary and the engine idling. The CTS2 does show the gr/l at 3.48.
Looks like it's 11-12 only eh Larry? Wait, this means I have a low mile limited edition. LOL. I'll have to put that in my ad when I list it this winter...

Same here on my 2013. I was all up to temp and mine hit full about 100' from my driveway. I didn't get the pop up in the display but did notice in torque pro that the regen had started. I pulled in and shut the truck down, restarted and watched the display and no option was there. Tried parking brake too and nothing changed. It's still full, so I have a little more control and will mess around with it and see if I can get it to come up...
Still at 95% and no OK prompt, even after a long drive got the temps up operating...
If Forscan lite shows 100%, maybe Forscan regular will allow you to change it to a lower number and we can get the OK prompt to come on sooner.
Really, I don't want to do it ALL the time, but every once in a while when I know I will idle for at least ten minutes, a complete cleaning would be nice. Only because most of the time I am lucky if I get down to 55%. And sorry, I am not going to just drive around for the heck of it. I had to go out today for a doctor's appointment for my daughter, but I certainly didn't want to be out there any more than I had to. After raining all night the temps dropped below freezing and kids are ice skating on the roads.
Well, it has to be only the 11-12's that have this function. I just hit 100%/Full on my filter just as I was getting home today. Didn't have a chance to start the Regen before I parked it. Put it in Park and waited several minutes and never got the prompt to start the cleaning.
It has to be something in the first couple of model years that they had in the software that we don't have in the later years. Mine's a 2016 and would love to have this function.
Yep, nothing came up on my 2015 either and I got the full right as I pulled into a parking lot. And then it started the regen and pulled into another parking lot and I waited to see if I would get the OK to start (and didn't). The regen stopped even though I let it idle in the lot while I went shopping. The wife wanted to wait in the truck and it was below freezing out.
'd love to have OCR if it could be done while driving, but I have zero interest in one that only operates when stationary. My truck keeps starting regens at the top of mountain passes or just as I enter an urban area. It would be s-o-o-o-o-o nice to be able to start it at 90 or 95% while still climbing or at speed. It's so logical, though, that there's probably an EPA reg against it...
k7lvo - Actually we are going to find out that injecting Urea into the exhaust stream does more harm to the environment than letting Nox escape and that particulate filters when burning the soot to ash, the result causes small particles that cause cancer...
I would prefer to have the stupid button like the XL and some XLTs have for OCR. Because like you I would rather have it start as I pull out of my house on that long highway drive rather than start as I am pulling into my driveway. Of course I know what I am about to do more than the truck ever could.
The CTS2 programmer provides the user the Operator Commanded Regeneration capability to the later model Super Duty. It functions the same way it does for the 2011-2012 vehicles, allowing the operator to initiate a regeneration while sitting still. The fact this can be accomplished using the CTS2 programmer would indicate we should be able to do the same with the PC version of FORScan if we knew which buttons to push to send the correct codes to the PCM. I also believe if we were clever enough we could use the same tool for the initiation a regeneration while moving. However, I have not been able to capture and read enoug information to determine all of the information Ford uses to determine when to start the regen. I do know there are different variable used, one being mileage since last regen > 500mi , irrespective of soot load. I am not competent enough with this technology to take this any further, however I would think that a company like Edge, the maker of CTS, has the skill and tools to enable a feature like this. I don't have a CTS controller nor any contact at Edge to forward this type of request. Maybe if some here does, it would be worth the effort to explore. I for one, would purchase one of these units if it did have this capability.
For those familiar with the Ford IDS system, does it allow you to begin a regen while driving? If they can't do it, nobody can. But it all comes down to a single "If" statement somewhere in the firmware....
