I'm sure this is a total question here, but I'd like to get educated on the various trim packages available for this generation of F-150. The main ones of which I'm aware are XL, XLT, FX4, and STX, but I'm sure there are others. So, would any of you guys like to give me a rundown of all the packages available, and the differences between them? Thanks and I look forward to learning more about 'em here
Levels are XL, STX, XLT, FX2/FX4, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor and Limited for that year. They've revised these for the 2015+ (STX is now an option on the XL trim level and FX4 pkg can be added to many trim levels among other things)

Going by that brochure, it looks like my STX also includes some of the XLT and FX2 features as well. I'm not even mad

This was what I was going to suggest. Came in handy when I was looking for a used F150. The brochure told me what was/wasn't included vs option and there were changes as the years progressed.

Many times features are available as options on lessor models.

Trims levels, times 3 different cabs, times 3 different bed lengths. This is what I call "advanced math".
The XL model is the lowest, typically sold as plain work trucks. They could be optioned up to include chrome bumpers, Power Equipment Group, foglamps, SYNC, etc. XL and XLT are the only ones available in all three cab/bed configurations. STX is the next step up and in my understanding, features the same interior as well-optioned XL, but includes body-color bumpers and grille. The STX is available in the Regular cab and Subercab, but could not be had with the 8' bed. The XLT is the most common, and starts to get into a nice, livable truck. SYNC is standard, interior becomes nicer and includes an upgraded driver message center in the instrument panel. Most will have at least a powered driver-seat. Armrest opens up to reveal storage inside. Foglights are standard on STX and up. The Lariat trim is next and the primary difference is leather upholstery on the seats. Lariat is only available in Supercab and Super Crew; but can be had with 8' bed on the Supercab. The King Ranch is basically a western theme on the existing Lariat; only available on Super Crew. Anything above the King Ranch I don't know enough about to give details.
It does get confusing. I personally don't understand why Ford thinks they need to offer a half-dozen different trim levels or more. They all sell pretty well so who am I to argue the strategy?
If I ordered another truck right now I'd get a XL with the Sport Appearance package and the power windows/locks option. Very functional truck that still looks great and has the essentials for a fair price.

Think I'd be close to this myself, XL with STX appearance. Though I don't like the included 20" rims, I'd rather the 18" that are on the XLT sport. Not enough sidewall on the 20s for my taste.
EDIT: Nope, just realized that the STX appearance pkg comes with Sync 3. XL sport is is for me then. I like to keep as many buttons as possible over the touch screen.

My STX has the 18" rims, and I agree, that sidewall-to-rim ratio seems just about perfect to me.
I also love that while I have SYNC, I don't have the big display/touch screen. I'd rather not have that, as strange as that might sound to some folks.
James, it is a 2010 FX4 base package. I really wanted the console for the large amount of storage in it along with a nice interior. Here is a picture from the passenger side of the interior and of the dash. Nothing too fancy but it suits me just fine

Looks nice. Appears to be a fine, well-maintained truck you have there, if the interior is any indication.
