Build Time!
A couple weeks ago I noticed a crack in my washer fluid reservoir. Of course, I had to touch it and sure enough it caved right in. As many of you probably know, no one makes any aftermarket replacement for the diesel, only the gas versions. EBay and junk yards have some used ones available but how long will 20+ year old plastic that's been baking in the sun last. So I really wanted find something that was new. What I found is this . It's about half the size, but fits perfectly and the pump even had the same plug. And you can even swap your oem pump into this reservoir. The oem pump has a screen over the suction, so I swapped both onto the new reservoir.
The bracket is simple and really only requires one hole drilled. Just be careful to not add a vent to your coolant bottle, if you don't move it.
This actually fits better for me since the coolant filter lines rubbed on the oem reservoir.

Here's my nasty old steering wheel. When it got damp it was all sticky.
I figured it would be easier to remove the steering wheel so I can work on it in the house; but that presented the first challenge. My wheel did not have any holes to bolt a puller to.
So a quick drill and tap fixed that.
Here is a shot of what all came in the kit. At this point, I should have read the damn instructions! I cut the stitching and removed the old cover only find out that the new cover was too big. That's because it is made to wrap over the old cover. So I had to wrap that one back on as best I could and used some tape to hold it in place while stitching the new one.
Here's the new cover all done. There are few wrinkles and lumps that I feel are entirely my fault for removing the old cover and then not taking the time to get it back on without the lumps. I think the leather should shrink and a lot of the imperfections disappear over time. In hindsight, I could have left the old cover off and found a foam to wrap the wheel and provide the added thickness needed. But overall, I am happy with the result and would definitely recommend the product. Just read the instructions and take your time.
