Leaking Oil

I drove the truck today. It ran great and hit the top speed the law would allow of 60 MPH with no problem. I have the RPM's set at 950 idle in park and 750 idle in drive. The problem I had (besides the slight transmission fluid leak) is a new oil leak. This was dripping on the exhaust causing a lot of smoke. I did fill the oil to slightly over max overfill on accident, but left it that way because I though it would go down since I just changed the oil and it hasn't been compressed in 6 months. I do not know if that has anything to do with it or not. How can I stop this?

Transmission fluid leak.

Was not much over and I figured if it built up to much pressure it would just leak around the breather. Is this wrong?

The pic with the starter looks to be motor oil, possible from valve covers?

Yea, I looked at it and it is definitely motor oil. All the bolts on the oil pan have oil so I think the oil pan gasket is bad, though it looks like there may be oil slightly above it, but they may be from driving and vibrations. The oil pan is also missing a bolt or two so they may be causing it as well.

IMO it's either a rear main seal or higher ... I don't think it's a pan gasket.

If you look in post#1 pic#3 & 4 between the starter and frame, you'll see oil above the pan line. To far and to much to be blown up there in that location.

After good cleaning found the source. Catching in this pan and overflowing. Do I have to re-pull and re-install the intake manifold?

It was dripping before that hole filled up though, but maybe it was leaking along the sides. It also looked pretty wet along that silver line, but that could have been from leaking previously.

Are you using 7220 gaskets and no end seals with that Edelbrock intake?
How long did you let the silicone set up before firing the engine?

Correct, I am using the 7220. I used a bead of RTV for the end seals, but apparently not enough. I did not start the truck for days after assembling.

I stuffed paper towels back there and it stopped dripping and the paper towel got wet with oil so that area is definitely where the leak is coming from.

It seems like you are doing everything right.

Not sure why you should have such problems.

It's not the intake gaskets leaking, it's the rear seal.

Sometimes it's hard to set the manifold down perfectly square on the rtv.

I usually use two bolts with the heads cut off, in opposite corners so it drops straight down.

How can you tell and what is the difficulty of changing?
