Didn't get too much done today - only had a couple hours:
reinstalled running board brackets after spraying with encapsulator
built a battery tray from aluminum, bolted to bracket
new battery and new battery hookups installed
took off old / rotted exhaust
made final hookups from new fuel line to fuel pump, including fuel filter
I backed the car out of the driveway one last time - using working brakes and new fuel tank / line - so that I could sweep out the garage. Up next, brake system disassembly...
I thought I had the plan for the brakes all figured out until I realized front discs likely wouldn't fit under the wheels I have (which I think are original?).
More research needed.
seats and remaining interior removed (carpet, mouse nests, etc.)
These seats sure don't look like originals, so I guess redoing the foam and covers myself is out of the question. I sent out a request for quote to three auto upholstery shops. Hopefully it's not too much $$....
rebuild of front and rear brakes with all new parts
master cylinder bracket installed
new brake hoses and brass fittings installed
found some junkyard seat belts
tires ordered
I was also able to strip one of the two buckets seats (which tuned out to be from a '64 GTO). I ordered new foam, and hope to stitch my own covers to save some $$$.
I need to spend some time researching how I'm going to mount the shoulder belts - any advice would be welcome.
I should be able to spend the next two weekends bending brake lines, then with the new tires installed, maybe a quick drive around the block!
