Ya I agree plus more flatbed space with the added width. I will feel a lot safer with the duals and don't know how far I will push it so I'm leaning that way.

Holy crap!!

You are NUTS for even considering to "fix" that cab

FYI, the rivets for the vin tag are nothing special

BTW I live in PA too and there is no such law stating you cant weld within any proximity of the vin tag

Well fixing is more sentimental than anything. I've had the truck 10 years since I was 15. It has taught me a lot about automotive repair and it's lucky. Plus vin rivers are star shaped and that's a lot of work to make a river that shape. Most of the hard stuff on the cab is done. Now it's hust full in the holes.

I've been down the road of saving rusty bodies, I don't regret what I've done but I won't be taking on any rusty restos any time soon. The good thing about these trucks are the availability of replacement panels of all sorts.

To each his own. "His own" can evolve as well, he's learning a lot about the process..may not feel the same way the next go round when it comes to this kind of work, but he'll be familiar with how to do it.

New and old you can see how bad it was

Inside

Straightened the fender liner support piece

Back in place to see what lines up and how bad the rust was

Cab support in place for mock up

Well got the cab mount out tonight. Here's pics

I dont know what rivets you are looking at, But they are not special.

And if they were like GMS "special" rivets. 30 seconds with a dremel would put the little groves in them. You have to remember where the vin tag is. In the dash, behind the windshield in a pocket. NOT out in the open for all to see

The top part is original and was just straightened out. The bottom was bent welded and shaped to replace the bad portion.

All cleaned up

Other side

Some mock up test fit pictures

Last night I got the floor support section repaired. Had to fab up over half of it. But it's thicker than stock and will be plenty strong.

Well been busy but not on the truck. The psd needs to get ready for winter. Picked up an 06 exploder for the woman and have been dealing with a lot of bs on my car with sands ford worst dealer ever.

Anyway I wanna get the engine out of the frame tomorrow and get that covered for winter. If I'm lucky I'll put the trans in place and fab up mounts. That way it will be easy to get the cab back on. Or maybe I should do the t case mount first. Still need to hook the 7 speed to it. I'm thinking a drive flange with a splined end to go into the tcase any opinions here?

Connector will supply 12v battery powr whenever needed. It's rated at 350 amps so it will be enough for a large winch or jumper cables
Side view I love these things so much better than popping the hood
My hand for a size comparison
Well didn't pull the engine but got a battery source connector on the psd for the plow winch. I will be putting one of these on the black truck once it's done too. It will be send for a set of jumper cables and other things.

Got a good bit done today it now needs to go on it's back so I can work underneath A pillar patch

Cab support in
In again
Floor pan cut in place

Started welding it in. The fit was horrible. But I'll make it work. I'd like more support to the a pillar than just a weld so some angle will be added.

Got the engine out of the frame today. No pics was in a rush before dark. I also got a lead on a cheap dt360 I may pick up before winter. Let's hope it pans out because then I can do an in frame kit on it and have a pretty fresh engine.

Not everything needs your patronizing approval/disapproval. Surely I could have had a field day with your spelling a thousand times by now.
