Not yet, I'll probably start running those when it gets closer to Friday. That's the soonest I can drive around and actually buy something, and I don't want to waste money checking on something that'll be sold before then.
The last time I bought a CarFax, I think I bought unlimited use for 30 days.. I can't remember what I paid, but it did save me from buying a car that had been in a flood but was not totalled. Not to be a gloom and doom sort (which I may be accused of anyway) - there are still Katrina cars (2005) around and most of them are in the mid section of the country as they were too easily questioned on the east coast...
Me and Tom's wife are possibly in the same boat, but I'll be scheduling for next winter if my doc decides to "go in" like I want him to. I've got a visit this afternoon to get greased and discuss fixing some bone spurs and my lack of cartilage on my knee caps. 3 months ago he insisted on doing cortisone (they'll only grease me with chicken comb every 6) and that crap burned in the exposed bone for weeks. Not fun! Maybe that's the litmus test for seeing if I'm faking it?
At any rate, I've had a woody for the partial replacements with UHMW pucks that replace the patella cartilage since I saw they existed. The only thing wrong with my knees is the bone on bone in the front of them, so I'm a good candidate IMO for this procedure. A little sculpting of the femur to remove the spurs and some new bearings and I could be a very happy guy.
I am due for surgery number 5 on my ankle, they gave up on cortisone A LONG time ago. There is no cartilage left, its all just scar tissue and bone on bone fun... Just trying to string it along as far as I can, don't really fancy having a fused ankle at 27.
The last one 3 years ago worked wonders though... Was on crutches for 11 months, but now that my foot sits at the right angle again my hips and spine aren't discussing mutiny plans anymore lol. When the quacks in white coats finally agree to do something other than poke you with needles its a good day.
I got more Synvisc One, and will be trying a new(er) platelet rich plasma treatment in July, then looking at going under the knife again for a scope (cleaning up the spurs and seeing what things look like up close and personal again) in December-ish.
Both my surgeon and my intern (who's actually been a LPN for like 20 years, but went back to school after the National Guard forced him to retire after 26 years) are reluctant to do any major replacements because of my age (not quite 41 yet). I respect that completely given how little difficulty I have in being moderately active (I don't need a wheelchair), but I see articles on people in their 30's who are competitively rowing having had partial replacements, and I can't ride a bike without risking passing out, much less do deep squats like rowing. Running is flat out. I'm thankful I'm able to hike almost as much as I want as long as I'm not carrying weight, so that's kinda why they don't want to fix what isn't completely broken (yet).
When I was discharged, I was 25 and having trouble standing. I had bursitis, patellaofemoral syndrome, stress fractures, stress reaction fractures, stretched out tendons so bad in both legs that my feet had gone flat, and a torn meniscus too. Oddly enough, with all that I still resented my doc for med boarding me out. Took me about 12 years and I found out that had he not done that, and my bursas had ruptured, I wouldn't be in the condition I'm in.
I still don't want to die of a heart attack because I can't do anything to get my heart rate up that doesn't also come with opiates to take the edge off afterwards.

How did you screw up your ankle so young? Damn kids....

Repelling accident...
I am going to firmly recommend that everyone refrain from falling 35ft lol. Still have no idea how the only resulting injury was a shattered ankle an a lot of stretched/torn tendons in my leg.
