Thanks Ross. Yeah, those bolts are through the block into the bearing caps. I'm not really sure what that half moon machining is for. It's just on the one side. I'd guess clearance for something on a different model. I was looking at it when I changed the pan. The pan and gasket/windage tray kicks under it for a seal. It's odd. Can't answer that one?
Nick, Nice work on the mounts. I am taking a couple of months away from the snow and cold. RV'ing in Arizona. Have to get my truck fix by watching others. Can't wait to get back to my F1 project.
Dos. I finished up the other mount. The second one always goes faster. I'm going to just leave them tacked up until I get the chassis ears made. I think I'll add a gusset to the arm and plate when I finish weld them. Now I need to make chassis ears. Going to use 1/4" for those.

I hear ya. Its full on winter here. Its 26° outside. I usually take off winters because my workshop wasn't heated and its not insulated. I bought a Dimplex electric heater a few months back to see how it would work. So tired of Kerosene trips and smell. It works awesome. I doubt I'll like the electric bills, but its worth getting off the kerosene heaters I used to use. It runs on 240v and puts out 34,000 btu. It keeps my uninsulated 25×35 shop nice and warm. Super happy with the little guy.
You sure keep a nice clean shop Nick, I'd hate to show you mine...lol
Again very nice work...
Thanks again. I have a bit of OCD there. Half way through making something like these I stop a few times and clean up lol. I never used to be that way, and for some reason now I am? Maybe my wife brain washed me or something?
I should get a shot of that...lol You might want to purchase a bit of insulation for that heater unless you can find a way to wire it into your neighbors...lol
I know you said you're not quite the tutorial type, but this is much more detailed than I would have expected compared to most other tutorials that read a lot like a math professors lesson: "2 + 2 = 4, now that I've taught you that, please prove the fundamental theorem of calculus" and you're left wondering how they went from someplace so simple to one so complex and seemingly far removed! In short - great job so far!
