Tough to have a hit on it already. Sad but happens.

I know thing to really consider is the rear tires. Since there are two you need to maintain some space between them.

there is certainly room in the wheel well for bigger. Some go back to the 19.5 wheels designed for those heavy loads.

Others will chime in as I really don't have any experience in this.

Tommy --- Really sorry to hear of the hit and run on your new truck.... b@st@rds will end up with some of their own medicine someday....

I would not lift the truck to be honest... Too many things start working differently or not well etc. Ford does not seem to need much of a reason to deny warranty claims either..

I have not taken it to the scales yet, but I'm willing to bet what was said earlier about actual cargo carrying capability, the F350 with that option can haul more cargo.

I get it, I get it, the F450 has bigger brakes, axles, rims and tires, hence it can tow more. Although I submit, the 14K max trailer tow package is not far off that mark. Were I hauling commercially and near max GCWR all the time, I'd opt for the F450. We took a ride in one empty though and that was all it took for us to opt for the F350. the 19.5 G rated tires were a bit harsh.

Best of luck with your new F450, can't wait to see it.

FYI...I have the 14k GVWR, with a tank of fuel, me and my wife, I scaled in at 9200lbs. Thats not a CAT scale or anything, just fatal weight. I have a question, what makes it a wide track front end? Is there something underneath to look for, or is it listed on the front axel? Thanks!

The big front fender flares give it away.

Thanks guys.............I got hit on the driver side rear fender in a supermarket parking lot. Just hit the fender and not the bed. The fender lights still work but the fender is shot. Looks like a tall bumper hit and ran. No note and no video.
My brand new baby, I haven't even named her yet. If I didn't laugh I think I'd lose my mind.
I appreciate any advice about the going bigger on the wheels. Thanks again.
Sorry to hear that your new truck has taken a hit.

I don't have any experience with bigger tires on a dually, but they do look good!

Tommy.........Very sorry to hear that some low-life hit your truck.......

You may already do this.........Park far away from the crowds and take up a couple of parking spaces. The walk is good for us.

Just a thought concerning the wheel/tire size.....Don't do anything right now. See what ya think in 6 months .........

Hey Senix, Randy, Gigger, Tim, Roy and anyone else that I may have missed, thank you guys. I really appreciate the support. I'm bringing her in to Ford tomorrow and am supposed to have it back on Wed. or Thur.. Enterprise says they will try and get me another truck. I'm hoping it's not a Ford so I can give an honest comparison.
I think you guys are absolutely right. Even though the dually's do look awesome with the bigger wheels, I think it will change the dynamics of how everything works. Thanks for the good advice. The funny thing is that I was parked away from everyone so I wouldn't get hit, ahahahaha. Can't make it up. I used to make fun of drivers with dash cams, etc.. No more. Now I am going to leave my dual cameras on longer when I shut my truck off. Right now I have it set for 2 mins. I'm going to set it for as long as possible. Even if I get hit somewhere that's hard to see, I may be able to see the vehicle as it drives off. Thanks again to all you guys.

Bigger tires are on my to do list. My goal is to get 275-65-20 which are a Ford factory sized tire that fit on the SRW's so won't need a lift. In my search for new wheels I have found Eagle 058 series in 20x7.5 and Americanforce Independence 20x 7.5, still trying to decide on which one I like better and trying to save up the cash. The AF wheels are way more expensive than the Eagles. I was on the phone with Summit Racing a while back(actually several phone calls) and they now have access the the 20 inch wheels from Eagle, they have the 16's and 17's in stock but Eagle is slow in making the 20's. The 20's are available but they are made as people order them around 8-10 weeks lead time. What I like about the AF wheels and the Eagle wheels is that there are no spacers needed between the rears, the wheels are made with the correct offsets to accomodate wider tires.

If memory serves the Eagle's were about $2000-2200, fronts, rears with a steel inner wheel and lug nuts and caps. I never got a return phone call from the retailer that i called for the AF's but others have said they were in the $3000 range.
