Well sometimes it starts really good (normal) and sometimes it sounds like it has about 200 rpm's for the first 2 seconds. And sometimes it cranks a little too long. I try to make a video, from a "bad" start. But thats not the real problem.
The real problem is, that it has misfires when the engine is cold. Seems like one cylinder (injector) is not firing properly. Everything points to one (ore more) injector. But I'd like to be sure. Im sure its not that cheap. The injectors alone are $1600. Plus labor.

Yes I will. Maybe it helbs me to diagnose the injectors. Then I will replace them all.

Hey guys! Long time no see...

I finally added Rev X to the engine oil. What can I say, it's like a new truck!!!
I started it this morning, and I felt the difference immediately. It's so much quiter and smoother in idle. And now theres no bucking or anything else, it's really like a complete different truck. That stuff is just amazing!
So the big question is, will it stay like that?

Mine didn't. By the end of the next oil change (without the RevX) it was back to the rough cold idle. It was amazing how much it helped but I thought the price was too high. There is a write-up in the tech folder on how to polish the injector spool valves I intended to try for a more permanent fix but my job has been too busy. Cold temps caught me again this year and I tried some Archoil 9100 with similar results on cold start and quieter running when warm. I do think if an oil additive makes that big of a difference you have confirmed stiction is the problem.

Has anyone on here actually tried to clean up their spool valves? Im just curious who if anyone on here has done it so we know if it is a viable repair for stiction?

I haven't seen any testimonials on polishing the spool valves (here at FTE anyway) but it makes sense to me. I was going to try it. Might still do it if I get a break over the holidays.

For me the RevX was a little better than the Archoil on the cold idle issue, but it didn't quiet the engine down like the 9100 did. I've only put 400-500mi on my truck so I can't say how the Archoil will last. I should also mention I'm using their fuel addative.

I've never had much luck with "mechanic in a can" but it can make a big difference in these trucks depending on what the issue is.

My concern is not if it relieved the stiction problem as much as I would worry about the nut and bolt that the spool valve rides on coming loose and having them damage the LPOP or the like.

Has anyone tried a biodiesel blend for more lubricity? Might be worth a try and certainly wouldn't cost much extra. IIRC it doesn't take much either.

Exactly what I was thinking. Can Loctite thread locker be used?
