What he said, i don't know what i was thinking when i did that. i royally *****ed up big time with this. Didn't realize what i had going, and i a screwed my self. Like Justin said, i was pissed and he was an easy scapegoat at the time, in my FB post i essentially blamed R&D for everything wrong with with my fuel system right now when in reality(obviously) it is all my fault, mainly b/c i put parts on that i thought would work, i didn't know the "science" behind the operation of said parts like i should have and then i got pissed when it didn't work right.
unfortunately for me i had something good and i blew it, what's done is done and i have no other choice but to deal with the consequences of my actions and move on.
I knew and understood what you were doing for me, but until last night didn't realize just how much you were helping me.
You asked me why I would never deal with you or sell you anything. You have repeatedly displayed for everyone in this thread why I have that position and this is just the straw that broke the camels back so to speak. Let this thread be warning to anyone, or any vendor that Eric steller is seller beware.
The poor packaging clearly is to blame for the physical damage to the pump, at this point I would just buy the pump back from you and you can find a performance pump elsewhere.
I figured that was the IP racin just put on his truck. Now that we know that IP runs like a raped ape and the fact that i had roughly 5-6psi of return line pressure(got that based off of some diag steps racin told me to do) it is very safe to say that my return system was my issue.
Eric, I wont comment on the IP, however, I think you really should take a second (or 15th) look at your setup...
I think its time for you to make a decision on whether or not the IDI thing is really what you are after, if it is, you need to accept it for what it is, and deal with issues you have come up in a rational way... If not, please buy the nearest 6.0 you can find...
I think deep down you want to see what those of us who realize that the IDI is an imperfect platform see, and that is that it takes a bit of effort to make it perform, however, I think you have gotten the **** end of the stick (Whether that be self realizied, or being a victim of circumstance)... I tried helping you, and I was glad to do it, but I am a little lacking on desire to do such after what has gone on...
I guess my point is, make something of it, or dont... It is up to you what worth either of those paths are... I hope for the best.
all i am after and have been after with this truck is to make it where i didn't have to mash the pedal nearly all the way to the floor to make it move, and to make it sound like i am not trying to race everybody in traffic. i fully understand that it takes a good amount of effort to get an IDI to were you have yours. it is awesome what you are doing, but from my point of view it is just a waste of time and money on an idi, but that is just me. When i first bought your pump, the plan was just to have a decent DD, not some hot rod idi, i knew it wouldn't be a hot rod with just your 90cc pump and everything else stock. Just wanted something that when i put the pedal down it would get out of it's own way rather than say "i'm a big loud, slow turd".
So what your saying is that my fuel system is still messed up in how it is run?
in the return system? just the fact that i had my return line from the regulator "teed" into the factory return lines, it must have been back feeding into the pump and/or not letting enough "un-used" fuel evacuate the IP and injectors. I needed a bypass regulator b/c the lift pump i was using was just putting out so much fuel.
Think of it as rush hour traffic in a construction zone, it just doesn't work good any way you slice it. too much volume trying to go through too little space at a given time. hence why i needed a dedicated return from the regulator to tank.
Have you changed your setup at all yet? Last I knew you were going to a Duralift...
If you are still running the bypass, I would look at the Tee you put in after the return lines, where your reg return is going... When I did the math I gave you, it was assuming a nominal orifice size of .250".... If you are running the factory N/A tee, its less than that, so that could be an issue right there. I didnt realize this until I just reviewed your setup. If you decide to upgrade that tee, and it still has high return pressure, than I think it would be obvious at that point that you would need a dedicated return. However, if you are already running a duralift, that issue is moot.
As for the first IP I sent you, I am running it and I have seen 1100+ egts out of it, so it was fueling correctly.
Do you know of anybody running a 60-1 upgrade that is above the boost pressures you are seeing? Im wondering if it is a wheel combination in the turbo as why you were only seeing so much boost. Thats a "big" wheel to be driven by the stock Stg3 exhaust wheel, its a common turbo in the gasser world, but RPM's will drive a turbo like that easily, not so much in a low RPM diesel app. I think even Russ only saw 17 peak when on the dyno with his... But thats a subject entirely on its own, and I am not going to speculate, Ive learned my lesson there.
