NP 435 Transmission Color Specification

Does anyone know the color specification for the original red color the NP 435 was painted (1966 4WD SWB Styleside 4SP)? Thanks, m.

There is no color specs (paint formula) because, FoMoCo did not paint transmissions, they were 'au natural.'

Transmission shops painted rebuilt transmissions either red or green.

The NP is from an outside vendor and not ford. It was painted with red lead primer on the main body. Aluminum tower was left natural.

At least everyone i ever pulled or have on hand is this way.

"Sally Rand" aka au natural, Dave, naked as a jay bird. Since transmissions were not visable when the hood was raised on dealers showrooms/lots, there was no reason to paint them.

But engines were painted for this reason. Warner T-86/T-87 3 speeds, T-85N 3 speed w/overdrive, T-18 4 speed all purchased outside.

The "Ford" type 3.03 3 speed all syncro was also made by Warner, as it uses some T-86 parts. Ford parts catalogs have separate parts lists for the 3.03.

Sally Rand was a fan dancer, was famous for appearing on stage in her birthday suit, waving two large feathered fans around. Look qwik, you'll get a glimpse of...

Y'all have seen these trans' many years after they were installed, as most of y'all were not born yet, or were wearing diapers when these trucks were new.

OP's truck is a 1966, my DOB: 9/9/1944. How old were y'all?

painting it clear would be good to avoid rust...warner trans had yellow stenciling of the model number on it. NP had an aluminum tag on the PTO cover on the RH side..It will have the trans mfr date, model number and Ford ID number as well as the trucks sub model it was for(F28 for example) It also has the model number on it(435).
Dont forget theres a 2nd boot on the shift lever...under the one you see from inside the cab. The 2nd smaller one is usually gone in my experience hunting for one.

Make that 3 times on this. Thats what I have found on the 3 np s that I have pulled. It was really visible on the one in my 65 4wd truck and it had the big yellow stensiling that Don (camperspecial) talks about in his post.

All T18,19s and T98s came with no paint. Also the ford three speeds and warner units had no paint.

NP 435 New Process cases were factory painted with red lead. So were NP transfer cases.

I have a 4x4 435 sitting here with its original paint.

I once removed three speed from a 65 and it had a awesome Mexican lithographed eagle on the top cover! Heco in Mexico. I think it came out of an early 80s granada.

The NP-435 in my low-mile '66 was iron oxide "red". Canada built.
Ooops! Just realized it was a birthday greeting. Happy Birthday ND! And I must say you look fabulous in feathers!
