please help me with color

I have a 1967 f100 swb flareside ( see gallary) and i am a begginer painter. I am wanting to paint the truck red but i heard it was hard to paint. If you guys think that a different color would be better than please tell me. Thank you

I'm not much more than a beginner at painting cars myself, but I don't think red is any more difficult to work with than any other color. Metallics are a horse of a diferent color tho. The metallic content can sag inside the film of paint and build up in corners and a run is a disaster because you can't color sand and try to fix it

I notice you're truck is green and red over green might be an issue, but a full prime would solve that.

IMO red is an easy color to paint because it covers well. About any quality automotive paint in any color will cover well.

Single stage, heavy metallics can be difficult - it can be difficult to get the happy medium between even metallic flow and shine. When in doubt, put it on dry to get the metallic even, then clearcoat it for the shine. (when clearcoating, the color should always be applied dull)

One of the factors involved in the price of paint is the color. Red is one of the more expensive colors.

As a general rule, the darker the color, the more the flaws will show. White will hide just about everything. Black will show every little flaw in your prep work.

Pntrbl is correct about metallic. It takes special care. A non-metallic red isn't any tough than any other color.
