Rough idle sounds like more of a fuel issue. Not saying it has to be a mechanical failure, it very well could be a programming issue. One would think Ford would be capable of correctly programming the new PCM so in theory, there shouldn't be any programming issues though.
A loose connection/bad ground if bad enough to make the truck run like chit, should produce a dtc, I said should.
1 or 2 bad injectors would make it run like chit, but also should produce a dtc. It's really weird how all this happened though. Engine started to sputter, loss of turbo pressure, then dead. I hope it's not but it sure does sound like a mechanical failure that somehow shorted out the pcm.
Hopefully Ford will have some better testing procedures for the dealer to work though. Maybe that will help figure out what's exactly wrong and get your truck back to you soon.
Engine never sputter until after the engine shut down and I tried to restart it. I'm going to call it a day and go ride my four wheeler. This week can just go away
A couple of weeks ago while getting the 12B34 update on my truck some weird programming situation caused the PCM to throw codes that don't even apply to my truck (example: waste gate solenoid failure). They re-programmed the PCM from scratch, but no dice. With Ford's help, they completely WIPED the PCM memory such that it looks like a new PCM, then reprogrammed all of the truck/engine option codes along with all of the code modules. That fixed ALL problems, but they had to do it twice due to a weird laptop issue. Took a whole afternoon hanging around watching them do the job. But given this experience, I would not be surprised if there is simply a problem with the new PCM programming - especially the correct engine/options codes.

WOW just read this. Thats crazy. Makes you think though. Sounds lie thay are using other pcms and writing over them and not effectively wiping them.
I didn't hear back from them this afternoon. Going to be a long weekend. If the truck doesn't get fixed by Tuesday, they can have it until the 16th as I won't be around anyway. Taking the Cub Scouts camping Wed-Sat afternoon.

Good for you --- forget about it and camp. Does pevee you I bet to no end.
By chance.... did they happen to check the harness that comes beside the EGR cooler? It comes from the PCM and there's a spot on the cooler that has a edge on it, where it could eventually chafe through. I noticed this on my truck and put a piece of plastic around it.

To add I remember someone awhile back had a problem here and it was affecting the injectors

Savage, sorry it's not working out so far, but I am also rooting ( as well as others here) for you to get this thing resolved soon!
Wow, I remember the Diesels that I used to work on back in the 70s. Just make sure that the injector pump is in time and the injector lines ain't leaking, or occasionally change out a bad injector, and keep the filters clean. Life was so simple back then "Sigh"
