Yeah... But you'd think that it would be worth a dealer's investment to keep one around as a test unit, especially a small dealer that doesn't stock those items.
[quote=SavageNFS;12014789.......Tow truck towed my truck to a smaller Ford garage about 6 miles away. No one was there. Not even a key slot. I call them tomorrow to see what they find....[/quote]
Vanden Brook still hanging in there? Just don't see old school dealers like that any more. Must have gotten a stay in exicution from Karch going under.

That would be nice but the Sprinter vans i work you can't even get away with that. Can't stock the part either-ordered by vin. You want to test run it your stuck locking it to the vehicle, becomes a paperwieght plugged into any thing else. At least with what the OEM gives us for programming ability. Ford i'm sure is more flexable but if bosch who makes just about everybodys diesel stuff these days has there hand in the cookie jar who knows....it takes them about a year to work the hardware bugs out of any new gen of ECU.
... any time I come across a situation where the next pinpoint test step instructs you replace an expensive module, I have learned to proceed with caution. Meaning, I ask myself if I've checked all powers and grounds to the said module? Have I LOAD-TESTED all circuits involved with the said concern? Customer pay or not, I'm not about to go ahead and replace an expensive module before exhausting ALL possibilities...
You are a rare breed bud. If I had a nickel for every time a dealership threw parts at something.... I always think "I can look at a troubleshooting diagram myself and throw parts at it - what I'm paying you for is your experience on these things!"
The Service Manager just called me and said they have located a PCM for my truck. It is supposed to be here tomorrow morning. He said my truck is already torn down awaiting installation and that they hope to have me going tomorrow. He must have told me a 100 times that he is not certain it will arrive tomorrow, but he was told it will. I was happy they called me (as they promised) and I didn't have to call them.
Well it's tomorrow now. What the GOOD word???????
Hope you are out picking up your truck
Well the dealership just called. New PCM is in and the truck is not throwing any codes. Problem is the truck won't idle. They have been working on it all day. They are now calling Ford for guidance. I think they odds of me getting the truck this weekend are slim to none as they quit in a 90 minutes. I just hope they figure something out and get if fixed.

Any ideas?
Crank in the idle screw a couple of turns (j/k).
Sorry, no clue, never heard of that one, WTH!!!
It will not idle and stalls??
The Service Manager called and sounded really frustrated. Not unprofessional or like he was in over his head, just frustrated. They have reached out to Ford is all I know. He said it starts and runs, but it is running so rough that there is no way it shouldn't be throwing a code to tell them where to look. He said they had difficulty programming it, I'm wondering if that is the issue. I'll let you know the second I hear more info.
Rough idle sounds like more of a fuel issue. Not saying it has to be a mechanical failure, it very well could be a programming issue. One would think the dealer would be capable of correctly programming the new PCM so in theory, there shouldn't be any programming issues though.
A loose connection/bad ground if bad enough to make the truck run like chit, should produce a dtc, I said should.
1 or 2 bad injectors would make it run like chit, but also should produce a dtc. It's really weird how all this happened though. Engine started to sputter, loss of turbo pressure, then dead. I hope it's not but it sure does sound like a mechanical failure that somehow shorted out the pcm.
Hopefully Ford will have some better testing procedures for the dealer to work though. Maybe that will help figure out what's exactly wrong and get your truck back to you soon.
