I was just notified of no stock at the dealer's normal warehouse for the PCM. They have placed an "emergency" order from another warehouse, but have not heard back from that warehouse to see if they will fulfill the order. I won't know anything until Thursday and that there is a possibility that the warehouse doesn't have the PCM. Apparently, their stock shows 1, but so did the dealer's normal warehouse.
Apparently, my PCM will not stay powered on long enough to reflash or anything. It's dead. I asked the tech if that could have caused the symptoms that I described and he said absolutely not, but if it was starting to fail, it could have. So we wait, he can't really check anything else until he get's a working PCM in the truck.
So the waiting game is fun for an impatient man like me.
Huh. I remember when I got my CDL there were references in the books for air starters, but I have yet to ever see one.
I use to work on the river (Mississippi) and we had tanker barges that had air starters and also had hydraulic starters. You had a hand pump, pump up the hydraulic cylinder and then turned value to in gauge the starter
The nice thing about having Air Start is you can use a CO2 Bottle in an emergency.
On the Sea Going Tug and Barge units that I worked on the Main Engines were always Air but on the Generators one was Air and one was Electric or Hydraulic.
To the OP sorry to get off track. I hope that you get good news when the part finally gets there.
The Service Manager just called me and said they have located a PCM for my truck. It is supposed to be here tomorrow morning. He said my truck is already torn down awaiting installation and that they hope to have me going tomorrow. He must have told me a 100 times that he is not certain it will arrive tomorrow, but he was told it will. I was happy they called me (as they promised) and I didn't have to call them.
