That chem-dip is good for carbs. Works best when soaked overnight. Just not sure how safe it is for this.

If it doesn't bother an aluminum carb, I don't know why it would bother an aluminum fuel bowl. I would make sure you get everything else off there though. No plastic or rubber, or electronics on the bowl if you intend to "dip it".

Just read can, says it's safe for alminum and other alloys. Says soak 15-30 min. Didn't work too well on my last carb rebuild. Ended up soaking overnight and did good.

Local parts store got me on that Chem-Dip, $25 or so. Seen the same thing later at Wal-mart for $12 and change.

Didn't get 2 miles on untreated fuel that time. Stopped and checked pressure, 48psi

Yeah, that pressure is definitely too low for the truck to run well.

Are you sure???

If they really do join under the truck then you don't have a PSD, thats an IDI with no turbo....but the fuel bowls/filters are different so I'm super confused on what truck you have.

Also, you said it runs good on the rear tank but not the front? sounds like cracked fuel lines on the front tank to me.

Wondering if I'll see a difference in performance/fuel mileage once I get things straight . There's a turbo there alright, was all in the way when changing the fuel pump. The book said to remove the turbo but I had to do it the hard way. Someone else modified the exhaust. Where I believe the cat was they cut it out and replaced with pipe. Then it's chopped off at the bed. I want to get some of that noise out of the cab but keep the exhaust open. I doubt if it matters which tank I run on, the key is whether there is fuel treatment in the tank or not. I just refilled again today and didn't put any treatment in the front, just the rear. The front tank is my test tank right now. When it acts up on it I've got the rear treated tank to fall back on. It clears up almost instantly when the fuel treatment hits the engine.

Where is you oil fill cap on the front of the engine or on the valve cover?

I'm thinking once I get into that fuel bowl I'm going to find it all gummed/sludged up. I'm thinking the fuel treatment is allowing the diesel fuel to get through that mess were straight fuel has a hard time getting through it. Hopefully we'll find out saturday.

The oil fill is on the valve cover just above the lable. The lable says 7.3.

You have a powerstroke

The 7.3 started in the 80's and it became a powerstroke in 94.5
In 94 there was 3 engines to chose from IDI 7.3, IDI turbo 7.3, do powerstroke 7.3
International/navastar made all the diesel engines till 2011

It says on each fender power stroke. I did find out for sure today that it doesn't matter which tank I'm on. When I filled up my tanks this morning there was only about half the fuel treatment I needed left in that bottle for the rear tank. Instead of opening another bottle I let it go with that. After about 20 miles it started cutting out on the rear tank. I was nearly home then so I added some more when I got home. When I say cut out I mean like you turned the engine off and back on, not missing a cylinder. One of these days the fuel treatment trick probably won't work. Rather get her fixed before that happens.
