I've owned my truck since new and I have never seen the fuel filter light come on except for when I turn the key on. I have only seen the water in fuel light flicker one time

Oh well, so much for that then. The leason here is to not rely on the idiot light. You know why they call them idiot lights anyway, only an idiot would trust them.

The water in fuel light does work. I'll tell you about one of my idiot moments. One of many. When I very first got the truck I picked up some fuel treatment and some coolant additive. Stopped at Wal-mart and put the treatment in and filled the tank. Pulled out and the water and fuel light came on. Drained it off and it came back on a few times and I drained it off. Finally stayed off. Figured out what happened later. Put the additive in my tank instead of treatment. Duh!

My engine is looking a little oily and. I was thinking about cleaning it. What do I need to be really careful of under there?

Be careful around anything electrical. It is generally recommended that you put a plastic bag over the alternator, and the IDM. Other than that, I only use hose pressure (no pressure washers). Warm the engine up (not hot, just warm to the touch) then spray the grimy spots down with a good degreaser (I like Simple Green), let it soak, scrub a little if necessary and then rinse with lots of water. Just try not to douse anything electrical. They're all made to take some water, but try not to drown them.

About what I expected. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else. I'll run this tank of sraight fuel down and should know by then if the engine is ok or not. Then I'll start putting some c-tane in there. I really need to find out how much pressure I've got. Try to get thet valve fixed today.

The parts store was very busy so I told him I would come back on that valve. Would one for an a/c hold up? The engine is nice and clean, no problems there. Might be getting close to start doing mods on this thing. Dread the day I have to put a clutch in, I baby this one. Get all I can out of it. I don't usally drive the truck hard, did recently to see if it would try to starve for fuel. I assume it's normal for it to cutout a few times when you first start it in the mornings, nothing to worry about is it? You guys have been great, LOTS of help and great tips. Much thanks. If I can return it somehow let me know. I'll keep you updated and see how she does. Much thanks again.

There's no doubt that the performance is better. It picks up better and picks up speed on hills better. There COULD be a downside to this. It's already to easy to speed in that truck and this makes it easier. Just hope my luck with the cops holds out. I'm bad to do 70-75 in a 55. Guess I'll put her to the test tomorrow. Got to make a run to Atlanta and load a trailer and bring it back. Let's see what happens. Hope the cops aren't watching me.

I would say the fuel problem is solved. Got her legs stretched today. Tried to set the cruise for 65 but got tired of poking along after 20 miles so I knocked the cruise off and ran on up to 70-75. Until I hit a 70mph zone. THAT was an open invitation. Put her in the wind at 80-85. Just about ran out of speedometer. Hoping that little 12 foot trailer could take it. Didn't have any problems except it wouldn't keep speed on those long uphill climbs. I would say that's normal. What I didn't expect was how bad it was going to kill my fuel mileage. Had got 14.5 mpg with that trailer before. Ended up with 10.4 mpg on this trip. I do have one issue that's beginning to concern me. On the clutch. Guess I need to start a new thread for that. Oh, the cops weren't watching me.

I'm glad you got it running right! Sounds like you've got it going the way you want it to now.
