That old railroad gas lantern is probably worth about as much as his car. I'd be really concerned about kicking up a rock and breaking the scarce red glass globe.

I broke one with a grey/black glass when it fell off a stack of stuff in my house that my gpa hid behind junk...
How much are those worth? We have a lot So yeah.. heres a fordson
So that front of a model a in the shed didnt really raise any alarm or curiosity i thought it was just the forward part
but then I realize its on part of the frame..
And the transmission ends in a wheel.
Then there is a lever actuated generator thing
Is this thing a homemade PTO with a small generator to add extra powering or maybe it it is just a generator itself and its for turning belts for various things... or maybe anyone have an idea?Welder(i realize its prob not that)
i am going to saw after your grandpa retired the model "A" he modified it to run a water pump to irrigate the farm fields.
the Belt drive PTO can be used to power just about anything.
a long long long long time ago we had a similar setup on a model "A" frame. used to power the water pump in summer, and run a saw mill in winter.

My now passed grandpa was born in 46 by the time he was on his own farming he was in the next gen of equipment but he always had a liking for older antique unique historical stuff etc lol. THey stopped farming in the late 70s when they sold the farm 2 miles away and he built the house here and then filled the yard with trinckets lol.
the model A was definitely acquired in the last 15 years which is ok, but that would make sense. What do you think the extra gen thing is, or is that a starter/generator?
Here are a couple other trinckets of a time long passed
If this is what you're asking about, I believe that to be an adjustable throttle control. In the absence of a governor, the wing nut afforded some adjustment of engine speed control. The picture does not show anything, but someone could have built a governor into the generator and that exposed mechanical linkage could have been part of that governor. Interesting, typical "Farmer Modification".
Or, perhaps that was a governor. I've been around a lot of that old type stuff but never seen anything quite like that.
Greetings from WI, Aurora Girl. You have quite a collection of relics from the past on your property--all of which no doubt have an interesting story to tell about your family's history. Where are you located? I live north of Antigo where the potato fields end and the Northwoods begins. If you notice my signature, I have an interest in Oldsmobile Auroras. Maybe you do too.
