Thank You Very Much ND!
You have given me just what I need to begin a restoration.
I'm so glad there are guys like you on these forums that have actual experience and not just opinions for folks that need real information.
It just ticks me off to request help on a forum and just get replies from people with the same problem but know help in fixing it.
Thanks Again

Do you have a way to find where the water temp sensor is on my 1987 F800 7.8 240 HP? For the life of me I cant' find it.

This is the only pic I could find. It's for the C Series, but I would assume that the F Series would be the same inre to the temp sender (10884) location.

1979 E-150 Fuel Sending Unit

Hi. I have a short wheelbase 1979 E-150 van that has an ahead-of-the-axle 18 gallon fuel tank. No one makes a replacement fuel tank sending unit for this, only for the rear 22 gallon tanks that were on long wheelbase vans. They are not interchangeable. I already checked. Thanks.

The VIN is: E14BHFE5013 /WB 124/ color 6/ type E141/ body A43/ trans B/ axle 14/ max gvwr 06100/ year 79/ dcson 74

D7UZ-9275-A (replaced D5UZ-9275-A) .. Mid-Ship Fuel Tank Sending Unit / Obsolete ~ 5 available NOS @ 3 sources.

Applications: 1975/79 E100/350 / I'll give you the sources, but have you checked the float that is replaceable by itself and is available from Ford?

The little darlin' is made from two pieces of copper soldered together. Solder breaks down, gas seeps in, float settles to the bottom of the tank.

COAZ-9202-B .. Fuel Sending Unit Float / MSRP: $15.94 / ALL 1957/79 FoMoCo Passenger Cars/Trucks, 1961/79 Econolines & 1966/79 Bronco's.

FTE sponsor Horizon Ford (horizonpartsguy.com) located in Tukwila WA, gives FTE members a discount off the actual MSRP.

Thank You! Yes the float disintegrated and fell off, I replaced it but I don't think that's why the gas gauge doesn't work. I think the problem is in the sending unit resistor. I put an ohm meter on it and couldn't get any reading. Also it was incredibly rusted like the inside of the fuel tank. I just bought a shiny, new tank and I'd love to put a new sending unit in it that works and isn't going to rust soon. I'm trying to restore it. It only has 110,000 miles on it.

Could you give me the sources to buy one of these please? Thanks again.

D7UZ-9275-A = Only 4 are now available from the 3 sources, which is nothing new.

Once I post a part number without listing the sources, some members know the names of the websites I use to search for this jazz.

B & B AUTO PARTS in Bronx NY has ONE = 718-892-1186.

NOS PARTS SOURCE in Olathe KS has ONE = 913-220-5746.

NOS PARTS LTD in Waxahachie TX has TWO = 972-937-2201.

Thanks Bill! I wish I could hug you. I was able to order the last one that the Texas source had. After two weeks of fruitless searching and a dead truck on the driveway maybe I can breathe a sigh of relief now. Thanks again.

1FD = FoMoCo USA - Ford Truck - Incomplete Vehicle.

P = Class 7 ~ 26,001-33,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

K74 = F700 diesel (cab model).

P = 6.6L (401 cid) I-6 Ford FTO Turbo Diesel.

9 = Check digit, FoMoCo usage only.

M = 1991.

V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant.

A23645 = 1991 Numerical Sequence of Assembly, the trucks specific serial number.

Want more info? Post all the codes printed on the Certification Label, located (glued) on the left door face below the latch, or on the left B pillar below the striker plate.

Or, you can post a pic of the little charmer and save yourself the trouble of typing all this jazz.
