Thanks Bill for the speedy response.

I've actually been trying to get that part for many years... and I didn't care if it was off of an Excursion or whatever (I have quite a few Excursion parts on the truck as it is). So if that accumulator insulator were found in ANY model of Superduty from 1999-2001, I'd have bought it, because that would make a much easier starting point to improvise from. But obviously, one cannot order a part from Ford without a number, so I never was successful.

Thanks for trying though!

1976 F700 Help

Hey Bill,
I've got a 76' F700 with a 5 speed and two speed axle. The truck has a dump bed and pto mounted on the right side. I installed a second PTO on the left side for a knuckle boom I had on another truck but the PTO speed is WAY slower so I am researching options for a new PTO, PTO gears, etc.. What a let down when the dang thing would hardly move the outriggers.
Anyway, I have no idea what transmission, engine, etc is in the truck and would appreciate any info I can get about the truck, transmission, axle, etc, or thoughts about upping the speed on the PTO or maybe another pump mounting option?

The VIN is F70EVC35776

type is F705
body is 418
Transmission code is M
Axle code is E2M

Thanks in advance.

I googled for hours with no luck on getting info.

Wow, thanks for the super quick response..its there anybody/where on the forum that would be a good resource to ask about my pto issue? I have the Chelsea pto model, cross pump model, and knuckle boom model, pressure, and flow requirements..I'm hoping someone can help me out as far as where to go from her, hopefully using the pump I've got and maybe at least the pto housing, maybe with new gears, or at least point me in the right direction..

Again, thanks for the help..

...where would I look for the tag be on the transmission and motor to verify that they are what was original?

Bill, I am a new member and just want to say you are amazing. People like you help make this hobby possible for so many enthusiasts. When I get around to uncovering the VIN plate on what I believe is a 1953 F600 I will definitely post it for a translation from you. Thank you so much

This appears to be a series of pics of a 285:

Transmissions & Transmission Parts | Transmission Assys - Heavy Truck Part Details - 100.00 285 69919 Assys B/M: Clark Clark? Manfctr. Parts Transmission Transmissions Michigan ~|~ Assembl Assembly ***'y Complete MO16G10C TRANSMISSION Transmission/Tr

As for your PTO, I think they can change the gears in those, but you will have to find an outfit locally that works on them. I recently tried to search out PTO info in another thread and didn't find much. There are tons of different PTO models. IMO, you need to find an outfit that deals with them and take your unit to them. Make sure they can work on it and that the gear they change--if that's an option--works with your trans.

Hi Bill, I have an 84 F700 that I'm looking at for an axle swap for my 85. I need to know what the axle is and I can't find the axle tag.
VIN: 1FDPF70H3FVA02926
TYPE: F70A
BODY: GH8
TRANS: SL
AXLE: JHN
Would you know the gear ratio for that rear end and these Spicer transmissions?

Hey Gary, this is what I can tell you from my 85 service manual.
1FDPC70K0BVJ22128
1FD~Ford Motor Company
P~Hydraulic brakes class 6
C70-C700
K~7.0 429 gas engine
0~check digit
B~1981
V~Kentucky Truck
J22128~ Sequence Number

C708~ C700 28,000 GVWR
JCC~? Mine lists a CC trans as Clark 282VHD 5-Speed
HHN~HH Eaton 17221 7.17-9.77 N 9,000lb steel power stearing
As for the fuel pump mine was in the tank. Big monster, I still have it if you are near ohio.
Most parts are fairly easy to find, I just tell auto parts boys I have a F250 with a 460. Really only a few parts that won't work.

Hope this helps.

Bill, checking through this forum, I am not even sure I do have the VIN, but here goes. The plate inside the glovebox says FEE81AHQ-5235 14 87 4-STD 633/981
F600 154 16000 GVW lb
I believe it to be a 1953 F600' 4 spd tranny, 2spd rear axle. If there is anything more you can tell me I sure would appreciate it. There is also a plate on the firewall
Style CBAAA-81A
Body No 441
BCDQ-435
37
The next part is where you groan, and I know you can see it coming. yes it has the dubious and dangerous Budd wheels. Yes I bought it already. Does anyone know where a set of safe replacements? Feel free to add comments about knowing better.
