Congrats! Do you have a good PDI checklist? Have you stockpiled some essentials for a shakedown run?

My wife is actually taking care of the essentials, she has been wanting a coach for a long time. I am working on a PDI checklist and asking questions of other campers and handling the towing, leveling and all of that other stuff.

Here's a great PDI available as a printable pdf.

I hope your family enjoys time on the road as much as our family has.

Has anyone "lifted" their trailer? On our trip I was continually dragging the rear stabilizer jacks. I think an extra 2" would eliminate that but really don't know where to start.

My Innsbruck has a spring over axle that provides great clearance at the rear, even with the lifted Excursion.

Did you do that yourself? Did you need to add another step to get in and out easily?

Our camper was setup this way already, it's a modification I helped an uncle perform and his step height wasn't much of an issue for them.

I did my old camper. Bought some pirches and welded them onto the axle, and put the axles under the springs. Worked great. The new camper came that way already.

We picked up the new 30' Travel Trailer yesterday, we used the PDI checklist for a reference. I did not have weight distribution for the 1 1/2 hr drive home, I stayed off of the Interstates and used US highways. The Ex did just fine except a CEL came on, P0299 code, but it is running good, I think I heard a turbo fart before it lit.

When I got home I installed the ProPride I transferred off of my car hauler, it went on easily. I had to order safety chain and wiring extensions from ProPride.

The wife has already been to Big Lots getting stuff to equip it, we need to go through the junk we have to see what we can put in it.

We are trying to find a weekend for our first trip.

Congrats on the new toy! Post some pics! Was it a turbo fart or did your intercooler pipe come apart? It could be time for cleaning that turbo.

We traded our 04 Jayflight for a 2013 Dutchmen Friday. We signed the papers, transferred our stuff, adjusted the new hitch and went camping for the weekend. Loving the new camper! We hit Walmart for new rugs and towels racks, ect. Tonight DW ordered a new tv with built in dvd player to replace the non-dvd tv that the camper came with.

Nice rig, can't understand why they would not include a DVD in the TV so inexpensive.

Congrats.

I looked the radio/cd player over good and didnt see dvd anywhere on it. I installed 2 built in dvd players on the old camper. I was going to do the same on this one but the place I wanted to put it was not deep enough to do it right. TV with dvd player seemed the easiest thing to do.
