We are heading to the lake tomorrow, the Ex pulling the camper and Durango pulling the boat. This lake is about 2 hours away in Wilkesboro, NC.
To prep for the trip I turned on the camper's front A/C and the fan did not come on. I climbed up on the roof, took the shroud off and found pine needles, dirt dobber nests and and a yellow wasp nest.
After emptying a can of wasp spray and cleaning the debris from the system I gave the evaporator a good bath. I then turned the breaker on and turned on the unit, fan started working with no problem. I reinstalled the shroud and let it run for a while.
The Kerr Scott Reservoir is a smaller lake but clear and scenic. We got here on Wed and most of the day yesterday was decent weather. The bottom dropped out last night. Hopefully it will clear up today so we can put the boat back in the water.
That's a unique campsite layout, looks plenty roomy!
We are just outside Ocean City MD this week, had thunderstorms roll in last night and today is looking to be a wet one but then the air should clear and temps and humidity are forecasted to be much more comfy.
Ocean City is an awesome place. I basically grew up there at my grandparents house, my elderly uncle still owns it and we go there twice a year. Be sure to check out Thrashers French Fries on the Boardwalk, Candy Kitchen stores and for great Pizza Lombardis at 94th street.
The site we are in is different but the park has a lot designed this way. You have to be careful coming out because it is only about 18" till you go down the hill from the bottom of the stairs.
Isn't it funny how the Appalachians always involve a steep grade to get up into the mountains and then it is not so bad. We were on NC 16 going from Wilkesboro to Jefferson and to get to the Blue Ridge Pkwy, Continental divide it is an 8% grade for 6 miles. We were not towing but the Ex was maintaining 45-50 on the hill, could hear the fan kick on every so often as we pulled the grade. 3 vehicles back was an F250, looked like it had a 6.7L pulling a 30+ camper that was maintaining its speed up the hill, even accelerating after the tight turns I was wondering what his EGTs and EOTs were pulling that hard. IMO, I would never push my truck like that.
Speaking of climbing mountains, the ole 2000 ex that is used to living at 800' elevation in VA pulled the 30' TT over Monarch pass in Colorado today. Elevation 11,312 ft. Oh, and it turned 440,000 miles about 20 miles before we got there. Thankfully it's been doing ok for an old girl on this trip.
