About 10 miles from our campground in Cascade Iowa yesterday we lost our trailer brakes, I pulled over and reseated the 7 pin plug and checked fuses but no luck, so we proceeded slowly to our destination. Chased some strange electric brake behavior and a “short to battery” alarm on my P3 TBC for a few hours with no resolution, frustrating as I crawled around on the gravel campsite with a bunch of gnats buzzing around my head. After redoing every related wiring connection in the trailers 7 pin junction box with no change in the situation (and another travel day coming on Friday) I pulled apart the negative battery cable to frame connection that also has the jumper into the junction box for all of the grounds there. Cleaning that bolt, washer and pair of wire end eyelets got everything working properly. It was a little stressful sorting this problem out so far from home and with 7 weeks of travel still ahead of us, but very satisfying finally getting it working again.
Those pesky grounds will get you every time!! Glad you got it sorted out!

We lost our brakes in Colorado, well intermittent loss, the Prodigy was throwing errors. I nursed it to our Kansas stop and by dumb luck found the problem, a pinched wire on the axle tube. I messaged the wire and has been working great ever since, thank goodness, we have had some heavy hills in Arkansas and Tennessee plus bad rain.
Picked up a new camper with the Excursion. Its a 2022 left over that was on sale (gotta make room for the 2023 modes that are already rolling off the line). So now I've got all the new camper bugs / quirks to work out. But with two 15K ACs on the roof of only a 29ft box, it cools down in a hurry even in the Texas heat.

Spotted a second Excursion in the campground we stayed in. What are the odds ?
I saw another one in the campground at Devils Tower in WY, I talked to the owner and he has visited here in the past, maybe a year or so ago but he couldn’t remember his user name. He thought it was “switch” or some variation of that. It was a really clean white limited V-10 4X4 and he was a good guy, we talked for about an hour. Found another one, red limited 7.3 RWD at the campground in Wisconsin Dells, another nice guy who had also visited this site.
Back in ‘10 when I bought mine and started dragging a camper around they were pretty common in campgrounds, these days it’s fairly rare to see one at camp. Those were the only two I saw at our campgrounds over the past 7 weeks of traveling. Saw maybe another 5 towing on the highways along our travels. Our wagons are becoming more rare it seems……..
Loading up. Next week is Mustang Week @ Myrtle Beach SC. I'm going to take a leisurely 3 days to get there from Miami Fl. I normally take my 1969 Mustang, but as I already have 2 1st place trophies from this event, I'm going to give someone else a chance at that spot and I'll see what I can do with this 07 Shelby.
I might be purchasing my first travel trailer. I went and looked at one today that my wife really wants. It is only 2 years old and in good shape.
while looking it over I noticed something that didn’t quite sit right with me. I figured there is a lot of knowledge here so it would be smart to ask.
while checking the roof I noticed a raised crease/ bubbled area that went from one side all the way to the other side of the trailer. It looks like it is where two sheets of plywood come together under the membrane. My concern is that the membrane is raised in that spot. They pictures I took are not the greatest. I will post them hopefully someone can tell me if I should worry about this or is it normal.
I'm no expert, but the rubber roofs will wrinkle up a bit as they aren't really attached other than on the perimeter. What I'd be more worried about is al the junk on the roof and getting that cleaned off. Certainly hasn't been maintained IMHO. It's gonna take a whole lot of scrubbing to get all that off.
I clean my membrane roof every year, you can use the Thetford roof cleaner/conditioner. Also the StarBrite mildew stain remover. The roof board is most likely OSB, and the membrane glue just doesn't work well there. There are many cases of air pressure getting under the membrane when driving lifting the membrane up like a bubble. I have experienced that myself. I would be most concerned about any possible odor inside the camper first.
Hey hopefully someone can help us out. I should have snapped a picture, but we are having problems with our 7-way trailer hookup and may need to replace it. But we can't figure out how. There are four screws that holds the front part of the connector (female part) to the factory installed hitch, but removing that does not appear to allow the connector to come out. We can't figure out how to remove the connector itself . I can attach a picture this evening, but figured I'd throw it out there to see if someone has done this recently and can provide a tip. Thanks!
The 4 screws that go through the 7 pin socket on the hitch will free the plastic socket from the housing. Then at the rear of the 7 pin socket housing there is a plug that allows the black socket housing to be disconnected.
What exactly is the issue that you are having that has you wanting to replace the 7 pin on the EX?
