The trans itself might last longer(might) but the clutch is sure to go.
I do have a C6 that has been used and abused(3000rpm R to 1st shifts) its whole life, and it is still kicking strong. It has to be up around 150,000 miles on it... Now mind you, that might not seem like alot, but it outlasted the first motor that was in front of it...
Same with my old E4OD, it outlasted the motor.....
But in a pickup with a gas motor for pulling I would rather have a manual trans, in a diesel pickup(a newer one anyways) a auto is the way to go.
in a well maintained truck, an automatic trans will last forever.
a freind of mine has over 600,000 miles on the allison trans in his Mack, and the only thing ever done to it is a filter and fluid service every 35,000 miles.
I hear a lot about clutches going out and I have yet to have it happen, I've had a couple of autos go bad.
Stick with the stick is my motto. To each his own but I'd take an manual in a diesel EVERY TIME.
Truck and trailer look ok, but what's the deal with the green lump of crap you are carrying around?
i know i know money was tight when i built it. all the guys that i ran with had turds so it was easy to get parts to put a truck together. i left it on the trailer one day to take to the junker cause i hated that it was bowtie and some fool offered to buy it so i dropped it off at his house now its his problem. thats why i said at the beginning this time i am building what i want even if it takes 2 years
does that chevy have staggered tires or am i seeing things???? looks like 44's in back and 40's in front.....
Looks to me like the front sets a little higher than the back (when on flat ground) and that the road is sloped downward making it look like the front tires are shorter

you are right the front did sit a lil higher the 44's on the front where only on 8" wide wheels so they actually were a lil taller than 44" the back was on 10's
