oh hell no they play foot ball not ot wussy soccer it6s 1 boy 2 girls and they all hate my truck they call it a either a screaming metal death trap dirty pit or grease trap one my way to work when i drop them off the girls but down towls down befor they get in
And that's all I'm saying ...my buddy is actually Joe schmoe, he whines bc his STD cab stupid duty on 38's is gutless and can't haul his kids around like his old totaled '00 psd supercab...& he is griping about how high gas is.
I remember when crews and even supercabs were really uncommon, and it was always a priviledge to get to ride in the truck when we all went somewhere (being the oldest of 5 helped a little, plus my sisters didn't care that much) but we all did just fine. And those were in the days when trucks got 12-15 mpg and they still made economy cars...
this is the offroad and 4X4forum. it says nothing about offroad GAS forum.
I AGREE 100%!
I see nothing that says you can'ty talk about diesels for off-roading.
You can't stop someone from thinking what they want. If someone thinks diesels are better wheelers FOR THEM I'm sorry but the thought police have no authority here.
After having a CrewCab I'll NEVER go back for my daily use rig. It is WAY too versatile plus I have four kids and a wife, NOTHING else fits my needs but a 4wd Turbo diesel CrewCab.
I grew up riding around in a '75 Dodge Club Cab short bed, 440 4wd and saw how nice it was to be able to take the whole family in inclimate weather, fishing and hunting etc.
When my Dad got rid of it and bought my std. cab diesel it was obvious that std. cabs suck for versatility and Turbo diesels RULE for mileage, not overheating, simplicity and reliability.
With the std. cab, everytime more than three of us wanted to go camping or hunting we had to take along the '85 Caprice wagon too. In fact three adults stuck in the front of a std. cab 5-speed sucks too so realistically it's a two person rig.
NOBODY will ever change my mind!
I have a DEDICATED wheeler and it has a 440 in it. It wasn't cheaper but it was cheaper than a fully-built turbo diesel and a little lighter but it gets about 1/3 of the fuel mileage, overheats on the trail if you don't pay attention and stalls out every once in a while. If I had to do it over again I might get a '92-'96 Bronco, make it a 1-ton and put an IDI tubo DIESEL in it, SO THERE!
but seriously, I get so sick of hearing (no emphasis intended on Joe) "Joe-schmoe" driving his superduty on 35's with a crewcab full of kids, whining about the price of gas, yet his unneccesarily big @rse truck is a "family vehicle"...that thought process is EXACTLY why the bronco got turned into a 4x4 4 door v-8 mini van, and the f-150 is now a car with a large open trunk. Just sayin...
well i like my extended cab diesel on 35's for driving around town. i used the xtended cab to haul my hunting gear so i dont have to take it out everytime i get done hunting. but mainly i keep it lifted up to keep the wife out of it lol. you will never hear me bitch about price of diesel and not being practical thats the price you pay for performance and looks and thats fine with me.

I'm just kinda thinking out loud now. But there again, that's my opinion. I just think soccer moms/dads need a minivan At best for the kids. It's the mentality that "I NEED a 4x4 to haul my family, the dog, and a giant cupholder for the goldfish" that irks me. Trucks are work vehicles, & truthfully I don't think EVERYONE needs a 4x4. Trucks have been around a lot longer than 4x4's or super/crew cabs and were still very useful and very versatile. If people started buying to suit their needs instead of their ego (again, my opinion...and I'm not neccessarily throwing rocks at anyone here.) I think "trucks" would start coming back and these luxury yuppified soccer mommy land yatchs with everything but the kitchen sink would be put in check.
I really get a kick out of the options on the new model year trucks and the bs that goes with it. For instance, I cannot go buy a brand new (or even year old, I believe) f150 standard cab long bed 4x4 with painted bumpers and a black interior. I'll even splurge a little and opt for the exoboost....well, sadly (& for some strange reason unbeknownst to me) this plain jane work truck (with a little extra pep) does not exist. honestly, I don't NEED a 3/4 ton (though I could justify it) but a simple light duty work truck just doesn't exist anymore, unless you basically want a fleet truck....Sorry about the rant, I could go on for days.
Anyway, as long as you admit that "cool factor<practicality" (I think that's "greater than" lol) I don't have a problem with your choice, then again if I did, who the eff cares, right? I figure 99% of the folks here have a level enough head to get a truck that suits their needs or even wants if $$ allows, & I'm sure those same level headed individuals can at least see what I'm talking (ok, borderline whining) about. That being said, I forsee Dan making fun of someone @ the expense of my "99% of the folks..." statement in the very near future....damn I'm ready to do some effing wheelin.
And now I'm blowing up the thread...cut off a whole paragraph lol.
Basically, I'm not trying to change minds, hurt feelings or even single anyone out, really. I'm just mad that "real" trucks are scarce anymore. I mean, WTF happened to a good ol stick shift? Yuppies are ruining the world I live in. Powerstrokes in culdesacs = lame.
I had a real truck and sold it like a fool tons, big block, granny 5 speed, no rear seat to catch ****, rubber floor mats eventhough it had power lumbar and power everything for that mater. oh, what a fool......
I was just looking at your join date up in the corner and remembered that as your avatar. I must say, I have always liked that truck. Werd Dan, werd to your mother.
